Recurrence #3

Hello all. It has been awhile since I posted anything on here. After my 2nd recurrence I was on Zejula for the next 14 months. Everything was going good I thought until I started having pain in my abdomen and throwing up at night. By this time my ca125 was starting to rise but not showing up on the ct/pet scans yet. It finally got so bad that in October of 2018 I went to the emergency room. I had a small intestinal blockage caused from the cancer. My doctor did surgery and removed 2 feet of my small intestine. The surgery went great but more cancer was on my large intestine. My doctor started me on taxol/Carbo/Avastin and my ca125 went from 331 to 48. Right before my last treatment my ca125 rose to 54. I have a ct scan Friday, March 1 and will do Avastin for maintenance every 3 weeks. I’m really nervous since I feel like my treatment drugs are limited. Anyone else have similar stories?

Thank you for sharing and there is no doubt all of us are holding you in our hearts. Am waiting for yet another CA 125 report. Praying it has gone down with increased Zejula.

There are a number of drugs for treating ovarian cancer out there that you might be eligible to try. So please don’t lose hope.

Thank you. I know everything will be okay. If God is for us who can be against us?

Hi Sherry. So sorry to hear all that has been going on with you. Did you need an ostomy? I’m praying you have a positive scan on Friday. Please keep us posted and know you are being thought of.

You have an amazing attitude. So true, if God is for us... I like that. And I concur with the other responses. It may seem as if the drugs are limited, but as we speak, I'm entering into a clinical study that just started, so that tells me all we need to do is hold on long enough for the next advance in treatment. If we stay in today, tomorrow will take care of itself. Blessings headed your way.

Yes I’ve been in all of those but reversed. I just went off Zejula as my maintenance drug. It stopped working. So now I’m on chemo again for 6 rounds of Doxil. So I hope they have another maintence for me to take after these 6 rounds of chemo. I was on Advastin prior to Zejula it worked for 11 months then stopped working.. so I wish you the best and let’s hope for good out comes for the both of us. Keep posting 💞

I am in my 3rd recurrence (4th round of treatment). I take zejula with carbo, gemzar, and avastin. The combination of the drugs work for me whereas the drugs as single agents didn’t. Dr. Howard Bruckner is my doctor... bruckneroncology.com

My oncologist wants to put me olaliparp but says Medicare won't cover Avastin and the parp inhibitor. Did you encounter insurance restrictions

Yes- but I am an extremely persistent person and would not stop until they agreed to cover.

I have private insurance as well- Medicare is not my primary insurance.
