I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 1C clear cell after a complete hysterectomy. Six cycles of carboplatin and paclitaxel has been recommended. I am trying to decide if that is my best choice. Any who have had any other treatment or number of cycles to share? My research doesn't convince me the recommended course of adjuvant chemo is necessarily the only possibility

I also was stage 1 clear cell. Clear cell is tricky. Chemo as hard of a decision as it is is the best fighting chance to get rid of it. I thought long and hard before I made the decision... Chemo wasn't east but manageable.. I didn't what was called dose dense chemo. I did 18 weeks of smaller doses.. my worst side affect was fatigue
There is a presentation on rare cancers by Dr. Gershenson from the national conference that was helpful for me with a different rare tumor type so wanted to pass it on in case it is helpful! ocrfa.org/events/conference...
Diagnosed in April 2015 with 3c Clear Cell, as well as USPC 2b and endometrial Uterine 1b. Did 13 rounds of carbo/taxol. Clear cell went to my liver. All docs said it was behaving much better than clear cell normally does. I was on 1 Gm of cannabis oil. On my July 2016 scans, I had 2 additional "lightening bugs" and a growing lesion on my liver which was removed during a surgery to fix hernias. In August 2016, I doubled to 2 grams of cannabis oil and added vitamin c (did infusions with each chemo and do liposomal vitamin c in between). My scans in October 2016 were clear, save for a few scars that were healing, including two spots on my lungs that, while always of concern, had not previously changed and were now shrinking. Scans continued to show the scars healing and my last two scans were completely clear, nothing to see...not even scary shadows of concern!
I found one small study on clear cell that showed high thc, high cbd and high vitamin brook care of clearcell.know of several women who have had similar responses, including one that was on hospice with fully blocked bowels last April. Unable to eat and waiting to die. She started the 2 grams and vitamin c....as of 6 weeks ago she had all tubes removed, eating normally, CA 125 is normal, scans are clear. She had serous ovarian and had just been diagnosed a year ago. 🙏❤️🥂 Life is good
I also had 1c clear cell after hysterectomy, had 6 rounds of carbopoplatin and pacitaxel. Also underwent 6 rounds of vaginal radition. Side effects hit me three days after. Constipation, fatigue and the ability to only eat mashed potatoes and drink milk shakes and 7 up. 1st one was the worst for me and then figured out how to manage side effects. Took miralax day before, watched a lot of tv and made sure house was in order before chemo. I am completely clear as of June, the only thing I'm dealing with is lymphodema now, hair is growing back like crazy. Lymphodema was caused by lymph nodes being removed. Good luck and God Bless you, keep the faith
I was diagnosed 1c3 clear cell in 2013. I had my hysterectomy and removal of the omentum and appendix in July of that year. I followed this with 6 carboplatin and because I took part in the ICON8 trial I had my taxol every week for 18 weeks. Clear cell is a whole different ball game because it acts differently. I was advised that even though there was no evidence of any disease following my surgery that chemo was the way forward as an ‘insurance policy’. The chemo is definitely doable, the side effects are not a barrel of laughs, but then you wouldn’t expect them to be, but they are manageable. I’m now 3 years on, still having check ups, still NED and plan on staying that way. I’d suggest that as you’ve already done the hardest bit with the surgery it would be a shame not to finish off the good work already started. Take care and keep as well as you possibly can ❤️Xx Jane 🇬🇧
Thank you to all the people who have replied.
I was diagnosed clear cell 3C after successful surgery in December 2016. I had 6 cycles of carbo/taxyl which did nothing at all as my post chemo scan showed the cancer had come back on my peritoneum and liver-just a few weeks after chemo ended. However it appears that you have to do standard trestment first otherwise you don't get onto the next treatment or any clinical trials.
My niece had the treatment and is now cancer free. I have ovarian cancer
And under treatment. Wishing you a healthy recovery. Hugs friend
Hello Mary, how have you been doing? I am 1A Clear Cell as well
what are you doing for it?
I finished 3 rounds of chemo 10 months ago and I am NED. I take a low dose aspirin everyday and I also try to eat a lot of organic greens etc. So far so good.
Do not use aspirin without talking to your doctor. Can cause bleeding
