Latest appt with new doctor

When I saw my onc two weeks ago, she had great news for me! I am stable, on Xeloda since cancer cells changed from E+ to TN. But she thought I should see a gastroenterologist as there appears to be some thickening in the lini ng of my stomach. i didn't like or trust the gastro dr who was part of my inpatient treatment team last October when I had a blocked intestine. His office had alot of decrepid furniture, he didn't like being asked questions and sat behind his huge desk, putting notes into his computer most of the time I was there. (I've found out that I am far from the first woman to feel disrespected, including nurses, too!) In the last week I've talked to gastrologist schedulers about getting an appt with the gastrologist recommended by my palliative care NP. Finally got that appt schrduled abouit a month from now, at the hospital for both a gastroscopy and a colonostomy ! The thought of this makes me giggle! On a totally non-health note, my husband drove to Chicago this morning to pick up his daughter who is coming for her first visit "home" since moving to Florida for a great job opportu nity and a war mer climate. She was about twenty when I first met her, over 20 years ago, and I love her dearly! Like me, she's a social worker, and we've really bonded! I'm really excited about seeing her again. Plus, I have today mostly alone at home, which gives me a chance to catch up on some things! Hugs to all..... Pam

Somewhere I read that "bonus" sounds so much better than "step!" I sure think of them as the bonus of marrrying my husband! She got here last evening and we had a great time. She looks well, has a nice tan.

Happy for you that you have a doc who is giving you the respectful, kind care you deserve.You have a plan (the known always feels better to me than the unknown). Thank you! My 'plan" has been to control what I can and let go of what I can't! Doesn't always work. Cancer cells are nasty little buggers!

Thank you! One reason I post here is to let "newbies" and others that some of us do well for years, more of us all the time. It was so great to see my step daughter yesterday evening. She looks great. Funniest thing, her sister was just here forr awhile and their hair looks the same color to me (not their natural shades of brown, but darker and both have a tiny bit of red>) I'll have to see them together, but it did make me gigggle a bit!

Thank you! Stable is worth celebrating! So is seeing step daughter. Summer--I'm a cool weather person and my lungs don't do well in humid weather. I've been indoors almost all the time, just leaving for medical apptssince last fall. Wish I could enjoy outdoors! We're surrounded by woods and I enjoy that thru the windows.

Thank you! The Gastro scheduler called (again! LOL) They need my Cardio to "sign off" on my going off tthe blood thinner I'm for quite a few days before the procedure. I already knew that, and he wanted to see me so I scheduled an appt with him as soon as I could get in, and well before the procedure. I told the caller that I'd taken care of that and had an appt with him before the procedure. I guess it's better when they ask the question more (miuch more) than once than not asking at all.!
