Mets in liver

my Mets spread from my bones to my liver after about 15 mo on Ibrance. Now I take Aromasin and Afinitor. Few people seem to be on these meds. Aren’t there newer ones? Please tell me what meds you’re taking for bone and liver Mets. ER+.

👋Shafight. That's interesting. My path took the opposite direction. After the chemotherapy in July & August and radiation therapy in November of 2020, my Onc started me on Aromasin as well as the meds to counter any side affects. But in October of 2021 they found pre tumeruos cells in my abdominal pleural tissue so she switched me off of Aromasin to Ibrance & Xgyva shots. Then about the last week of October I started getting Faslodex shots added to my treatment. All my scans show the cancer as dormant & I'm stable for now. These are older drugs, but they're tested & reliable. I haven't the nerve to try the new stuff. I can't stop asking myself, "What if they don't work?" & "What if the side effects for them are worse than what I'm already going through." Silly, I know. What have I got to loose? But I just feel better trusting my Oncologist's judgment. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

thank you for responding. I really like that you said the older drugs are tried and true! Best to you!

OneLump22 - Do you have Lobular Carcinoma?

PJBinMI profile image

I wondered that, too, given the spread to the abdomen. I have lobular and it's done that, too. Caused an intestinal blockage which was the most serious problem I've had since diagnosis in 2004, with bone mets since the get-go.

I'm not sure. Nobodies ever used that word around me. Mine was labeled Metastatic & all I know is that meant that cancer cells had gotten into my bloodstream & spread. At one point they found an early stage tumor in the upper wing of my L pelvic bone. When I was first diagnosed, they said it had spread from my breast to a thoracic & a lumbar part of my spine. Radiation therapy & Aromasin for those.

It isn't silly! I feel the same way about changing meds. It's fear of the unknown

Hello, I am interested to know how they found the pre cancerous cells? I am always nervous they will miss things like that by just doing CT scans with me. My MBC doesn't shows any TU markers on the blood test.

I was moved on to Xeloda when it spread to my liver. But after a year have had slight progression so will be asking about Aromasin when I see my doctor next week. Looking forward to what other people here say.

After 18 months on Ibrance and some time off meds for surgery, my Mets spread from armpit lymph nodes to my liver. I was put on Xeloda and so far am feeling well - too early to scan for results but am hopeful. 🤞🏼🙏🏼

I think you are in good hands and fingers crossed this will be an effective treatment for you. Some times tried and true meds is the way to go. Good luck my friend.

hi. I too was put on Xeloda after previous drugs stopped working. Pretty much tolerating the side effects and reduced markers right down. Had some time off in December due to a chest infection and needing antibiotics and an admission to hospital due to discovering I had pulmonary embolism which has damaged my spleen (which apparently are prone to people with cancer according to doctor). My tumour markers have raised but hopefully I’m back on Xeloda now and hopefully they start to decrease again. Good luck 🤞

I have mets to bones and liver and I am on ibrance (3 weeks on 1 off) and daily letrozole and calcium and vitamin D + quarterly zelodronic acid infusions.

Prior to this, at diagnosis, I had 8 rounds of FEC chemo. My scans show reduction in tumours so far.

my next scan (which is the first since I started ibrance 4 months ago) is on the 18th of this month 🤞🏻🙏

I wish you the best with your medication change.

Hello, I took Ibrance for 17 months before progressing. Have you been tested for any mutations? I have the PIK3 mutation so moved to Piqray (Alpelisib) for a few months but now I am taking Xeloda and my liver Mets have finally started shrinking after two years!!

I was on Verzenio and letrezole for 10 months, am currently on piqray and fluvesterant for 14 months. Onc said he could put me on Aromasin and Afinitor next if I have progression or possibly kisquali. I have bone, lung and liver Mets but I am Ned at this moment.

How are your feet? I just started one week on and about to end my first week off but my feet are so bad I can’t walk so Onc wants to take a longer drug holiday and then start on lower dose. Did that happen to you?

I have been on Aromasin , arimidex, ibrance, Faslodex, and affinitor over the past almost 13 years since my cancer first metastasized . In September I started on xeloda. I was really nervous about it but it has worked well. I had multiple growths( over 25) appearing and growing on my chest. They are now all shrinking and many have totally disappeared. Even tho I was on ibrance for 5 years , and I was used up it and confident in it …a change was needed. And I was nervous about older drugs too, but xeloda is working and I am thankful.

My feet are ok but my hands are not as good. I have to put creams on frequently. They are very dry . I can deal with it as long as the meds are working. Thanks for that.

just had bloodwork and saw my onc. Affinitor isn’t working for me. I’ll have another Pet scan in 3 weeks. It sounds like many move to xeleda for liver Mets?? Is that an older drug?

an oldie but a goodie for many women.

How do they know affintor isn’t working just from blood work?
