Erectile Disfunction

Hello,

I had mild clinical depression some 9/10 years ago. Time off work, therapy and antidepressants helped me get into a better place (mentally and health wise).

This event/trauma has left me with almost zero libido and erectile disfunction. Viagra does not work for me, as you need to be in the mood.

Over the years I have seen a couple of specialists who checked the function of my penis, checked for testicular cancer etc (although no one tested my testosterone levels I don't think). All negative/in good health for my age.

The relationship with my wife is more platonic now as there is not sexual activity between us.

Does anyone have any recommendations on medicines that have offered help and support in help to get the libido back?

sorry, cannot offer any information on medicine etc to solve your concerns, what about counselling as a couple ? Or choosing a day / night, where you can sit down and discuss without any distractions and try and resolve.

Take things slowly, try other things without sex, like massage, toys, talk, go back to your doctor and explain how you feel

Sorry about your situation. There is a dedicated ED forum. You may get more responses posting there.

tadalafil worked better for me than viagra but like you wasn’t effective enough for me. I was diagnosed with TB meningitis that damaged nerves near the base of my spine. To make matters worse, after spending 4 months in hospital my wife of 13 years left me for another guy.

After around 10 years of trying everything the specialist at St Mary’s hospital suggested, I discovered that there is something called penile implants. Essentially 2 tubes were inserted into my shaft and a reservoir into my abdomen and a small pump into my scrotem.

Whenever if want an erection, I squeeze the pump to inflate the tubes which pumps fluid into the tubes in the shaft of my penis, and hey presto - I have a fully erect penis.

Yea it’s not as good as the real thing, and my libido is massively reduced, but it does allow a full sex life with my wife who I subsequently met.

It’s not for everybody but has been a way of restoring some normality for me. Good luck and feel free to ask me anything you may want to know.

are you still on the anti depressants

They are notorious for causing ED . I know because that is what they did to me. It is one of the biggest side effects of SSRI’s

you might not want to mess with switching anti-depressants, but bupropion is one that does not affect erectile functioning the way many do; ask your doc about it

You need to talk to your wife and your Doctor.

There may be a medical reason for which treatment is available. But just talking to your Wife will help. Try and take sex off the agenda and just see where it leads ?

Good luck
