I am a 68 year old male who, 5 weeks ago, developed a constant urge to pee.
After 2 or 3 days it seemed that the problem didn’t seem to be shifting, so I visited my GP surgery, and was given tests on my prostate gland. These took the form a physical rectal examination, and some PSA blood tests, and I was told the results of these were ‘fine’ and so they diagnosed an over active bladder.
I was prescribed a course of Oxybutinin at 2.5mg, but despite being in it now for 8 days, the problem barely seems to be shifting at all.
I had the same problem on 4 previous occasions in the past 5 years, but it previously always cleared within a week or so.,
Are thee any fellow sufferers out there who might be able to help me on this, please?

That’s good they have ruled out prostate causes of your symptoms. Were you tested for a urine infection? I had similar symptoms when I had a urinary tract infection. Resolved after a couple of days of antibiotics. Felt a bit rough for a bit though.
I’m not due to see him for another 3 weeks, but I think it’ll drive me crazy if I have to put up with this any longer. It fills my every waking thought, and I’m completely worn out with it.
If this issue is new it could be an infection of some sort.
I have mentioned previously that I had problems with having to urinate something like every two hours.
Doctor sent me to Urology clinic who taught me to 'retrain' my bladder. Basically, bladder had shrunk as I was emptying it so often.
Started by drinking more water, then little by little hanging on each time you feel the need to go. Now I can go for hours and no more than once overnight.
