Advice needed on iron/ferritin levels please

I'd be really grateful if anyone could advise on whether I need to be concerned about my iron/ferritin levels. I'm seeing a neurologist tomorrow and want to be well informed.

I have results from my last three blood tests so hopefully that might help.

Serum iron level: October 2023 - 7.7 umol/L; January 2024 - 21.5; April 2024 - 18.8

Total iron binding capacity: October 2023 - 45.9 umol/L; January 2024 - 51.4; April 2024 - 49.2

Serum ferritin: October 2023 - 237 ug/L; January 2024 - 624; April 2024 - 121

Transferrin saturation: October 2023 - 16.8%; January 2024 - 41.8; April 2024 - 38.2

I had a viral infection in January so that might explain the high levels that month.

I took ferrous sulfate for the three months prior to Jan 24, and have been taking ferrous bisglycinate every other day from early April.

Your ferritin and Transferrin saturation are fine but your serum iron and Total iron binding capacity are low. I would keep taking the iron.
