These are the results of the blood tests I had done earlier this month.
My doctor didn't tell me to fast beforehand, but thanks to advice from this site I had fasted for the previous 12 hours.
The doctor has now told me that no action needs to be taken, but I note that one of the readings shows that I am under the normal range.
What do the results mean please, and what further action is it advisable that I should take now?:
Serum gamma-glutamyl transferase level (XaES3) 19 u/L [0.0 - 37.0]
Serum C reactive protein level (XaINL) < 4 mg/L [0.0 - 6.0]
Serum ferritin level (XE24r) 50.0 ug/L [10.0 - 291.0]; A normal ferritin may not exclude iron deficiency if levels are at the lower end of the normal range or in the presence of inflammation.
Serum iron level (X76tH) 22.1 umol/L [10.0 - 30.4]
Transferrin level (X76tI) Below range 2.26 g/L [2.5 - 3.8]; Below low reference limit
Percentage iron saturation (XaJm0) 43 % [16.0 - 50.0]
Serum TSH level (XaELV) 1.58 mU/L [0.35 - 5.5]
Serum free T4 level (XaERr) 12.6 pmol/L [10.5 - 21.0]
Serum vitamin B12 level (XE2pf) 574.0 ng/L [211.0 - 911.0]
Serum folate level (42U5.) > 24.00 ug/L [> 5.38]; Serum Folate Reference Range = Greater than 5.38 ug/L If the patient cannot be fasted be aware that a folate rich meal, eaten less than 3 hours prior to venesection, may increase serum folate concentrations.
