Hi all. I've been taking Magnesium Citrate for two months and it helps a bit, but not as much as I'd hoped. I've been reading that Magnesium Malate is more effective. Does anyone know if it works? I also have night cramps and the citrate doesn't do anything for that.
Magnesium Malate: Hi all. I've been... - Restless Legs Syn...
Magnesium Malate
I've been taking magnesium citrate & Magnesium threonate for over 8 months and they don't make any difference to my RLS. They do help avoid constipation caused by oxycontin though!
I read that because Magnesium Malate is chelated it is absorbed better by the system and so more effective. I think I'll give it a try when I've finished the citrate
Get Magnesium Oil instead, it is more direct. It's available from Holland and Barrett.
Rub it onto the top of your leg and on your calf. Do both legs and massage it in, in a downward movement. Do this morning and night.
Thanks. I have RLS in all my limbs, individually and together, and including hands and shoulders, every single evening and through the night. I don't think I'll be able to keep up this amount of oiling, I'll be oven-ready!
Peace and stillness to you lorrinet . I read your comment and I too have it everywhere. My doc prescribed me a magnesium cream that is really easy to apply topically. I'm not sure if it is working or if my symptoms would be worse if I didn't include it in my regimen.
Put Magnesium Oil on the body parts which suffer most.
I've been advised by the pain clinic to take magnesium malate. I have Fibromyalgia amongst other things. I bought a product labelled CM3 1250 Pure Tri-Creatine malate capsules 360 x 1450 mg from ebay Which sounds an awful lot. The product says for athletes and to take far more than I would need. So took 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening, since August 2017. And I've been sleeping so badly. Every hour or hour and a half I'm awake. This is how I found this post. I googled "does it interfere with sleep", Seems it does. So I'm gonna knock off the evening dose. See what happens, if still not sleeping better, stop it altogether.Cos any good things it may have done for me is counteracted by this awful sleep deprivation.
So sorry to hear of your sleep difficulties. I have chronic insomnia along with the RLS so fully sympathise. I can't say I've noticed my sleep being worse on the Magnesium Malate though, in fact all together I believe I'm benefitting from it.
I've taken opiates for RLS for around 14 years, which have quite literally saved my life. Twice a week I also take a sleeping tablet (Zopiclone). It's wonderful to go to bed and go to sleep just like the rest of the world, though I usually wake needing another dose of RLS meds. Sometimes i must get up and walk around for about 15 minutes while they kick in, but i generally go back to sleep then. The rest of the week I have a good book and tend to read for hours.
It's strange lorrinet how some are finding magnesium helps while others are finding their sleep messed up. i haven't tried knocking it off yet, but am going to stop the dose tonight, and every night and see how my sleep is then. I found a forum somewhere and every poster had trouble with their sleep and magnesium. Glad it seems to be helping you.
I'm taking loads of other supplements, but haven't looked them up yet.
