Hi em jay, and everyone else. went for the results of my spyrograph(breathing test) Doc says all fine and probably due to not smoking. Now I can get a free flu jab , instead of waiting for another 2 years. He said it would be beneficial for me. all in all not a bad day.

Now i have to test my willpower as we have just put our house on the market today. I sold one about 4 years ago and it can really test you. There again it might just take my mind of the ciggys. And at least the house wont smell of stale tobacco smoke.

Hope everyone is ok and doing well.

Hey JillyGirl,

That's brilliant news, you've done really well :-)

Also, not only do you save pennies, your health will always continue to improve. Thus leading onto a fuller, happier and healthier lifestyle.

Good luck with the selling of the house... Try to keep smiling all the way through the process. Any hiccups are just a challenge to make you stronger.

You're a star :-)

Hi jillygirl

I stopped on 1st April and am really glad that I have done it. As I have had a horrible flu type virus for the past week I think it is great that you can get a flu jab ...... I think if I had still been smoking I wouldn't have been able to breathe!

There are more positive things to giving up than negatives ..... Like you say no nasty stale smell on us or our houses (I only ever smoked on the back door step but it still wafted in through the kitchen and into the hall .... You don't notice how horrible it smells when you are doing it).

Well done and hope the house sale goes smoothly, think of the new things you could buy for your new place with the money you are saving :-)

Thanks Jane. I got a bad chest infection which made me stop smoking. I stopped just a couple of days before you. So we aint doing too bad eh!. My doctor was very supportive and that makes you feel better in yourself.

Cheers Jillygirl.

Hiya Chris, you've come to right place. There's great support here and quite a lot of laughs too. I can't comment on giving in because I never tried before - was always too weak and found all the excuses not to bother in the first place. I'm now on day 11 of going cold turkey and it is starting to get a little bit easier each day.

Don't feel bad and hate yourself, get your head round it again, set yourself a new date and keep coming here for support.

Good luck, Andi

Hi Chris, welcome to the site. I would be lost without it. Its good to talk to people with similar problems, and we are all aiming for the same thing.

Keep on trying , dont hate yourself if you weaken. many of us do. I have a inhalator which i use when I get a really bad urge to smoke. I find it really helps me., but everybody has there own preference of what suits them.

P.S. Any good at ryhmes. I think monky is making it into a competition

(only joking).
