Yes Kim its usual, especially already having a chest infection....but you will feel the benefit in the long run....keep going and well done ....
Hi Kimz, I'm Pete, yes Linda is spot on, I stopped for 6 weeks and I can remember coughing a lot the first few days, its all due to your lungs cleaning themselves out of that, erm, well the stuff you get with smoking, it will soon pass gal just keep in there, I know you can do it. lothriojsiohi........sorry my cats just wrote you something, have to go now gal and give her some fussin.
I wish you good luck Kimz, keep that chin up gal.
Pete.
Well Done Kimz I am now into my 4th day still abit wheezy i have smoked the same amount and time as you As the coughing same here been told its all that rubbish starting to clear from your lungs keep going you are doing so well, It must get better than this ?
Hi Kimz, I quite smoking back in February as I had the same sort of thing as you - the only difference is I was taken into hospital and it was discoveredf I had pneumonia! I just decided enough was enough and went to see the nurse at my doctors practice as soon as I got out of hospital. The cravings got harder as I got better but with patches, the spray and the support of my doctor I am still working at it! My advice to you is get as much support as you can and get on the patches and try the spray! Good luck and well done!
hi kimz. i quit 3 weeks ago. i had a chesst infection and coughed till i was sick. once the antibiotics kicked in i improved and hardly coughed. I do get a headache now and again but not sure if its anything to do with not smoking.
But well done and stick at it. I smoked 20 a day from being 18yrs old. I am now 63. so its a big challenge but worth it. Good luck . jillygirl.
Hi Kimz,
Well done for giving up.. I am on my 9th day of going cold turkey and my cough is still here but im starting to see benefits already.... my teeth look whiter my circulation had improved and running around with my nephew no longer leaves me out of breath...
I have had around 2 - 3 cravings a day and that's been hard, i have managed to suck on a sweet ( or maybe 5 ) till it goes.
Dont give up you can do it!!!!!!!!!
Kate
Hi Kimz,
Keep going. I'm using Champix to give up and been extremly wheezy since I started on them as I cut down before I stopped. So far, I've been into the out of hours Drs, been to A&E and had an xray etc because I've been so wheezy.
I cannot stress enough that it is important that you get checked out as sometimes a course of antibiotics are needed to just help clear the gunge on your chest especially if your not coughing.
Dont feel despondent though, there is light at the end of the tunnel Kimz.
wow cant believe ive had so many responses...Thanks everyone its really encouraging...Im feeling rather smug today...NO Cigs and NO really bad cravings Still coughing and wheezing but as ive read replies thats to be expected...Keep up the good work everyone and big thanks for sharing your experiences x
Hi Kimz, keep doing what you are doing, you're on the right track to a smokefree future. Be sure to keep us posted as to how you are doing, your experience helps others too.
Remembering to stay positive is the key to success, you are doing fab, keep it up!
Wondering if anyone else has had any feelings of being lightheaded? Also loss of smell and taste?
Hi kimz, the lightheadedess you are feeling may be down to all the fresh oxygen you are breathing in, instead of all those toxins that is in cigarette smoke.
With regards to your loss of smell and taste, most new non-smokers generally find that it improves. See how you go over the next week and let us know if it improves.
