hello and welcome to our weekend chatπββοΈ Itβs been a great week here with new members joining us and lots of achievements celebrated.
We humans are creatures of habit and routines. Just as it takes 20 years or more to develop our adult personalities, weβre also developing behaviors and habits. Unfortunately some of those habits are not always healthy or helpful to us. Some may cause long term difficulties in our lives. Smoking is one of them.
Changing a behavior or habit is not done simply overnight. It took many years to learn so we can expect it to take time to change that behavior or routine. It just seems more difficult than it is because itβs a process and not something you can wake up one day and change all the learned behaviors.
People get comfortable because those ways are familiar to them. To change anything is to give up the familiar for the unfamiliar, which can be a bit scary. When we stop smoking we are confronted with difficult situations and we have to step out of our comfort zone.
The simplest routines to change are the small ones. Identify cues that trigger the urge to smoke. Then disrupt and change that particular cue. Replace that with something new. Keep it simple and persist with the changes in those routines.
The great thing is that we can practice these new routines and then we begin to feel comfortable with them. So the old routines will fade into the past.
Creating new routines will help on your journey to a healthier smoke free futureππ
Have a lovely weekend and keep smiling, itβs great to be smoke freeπππ«π°π«π°π«π°ππ€xx
