I keep telling myself that I may as well start smoking again if I am going to feel this dreadful for the rest of my life. I’ve been here before so know that these are just tricks the mind plays with you to get you to start again. Having said that though it really would be easier if I felt joyful and positive! Maybe I need to train my mind to be more upbeat. Starting to get dry mouth and sore throats. Binged on sweets yesterday and suffered last night. Still waking at 6am feeling anxious. Going away in a week and a bit nervous about that.

Hi Okradon, you know deep down that smoking won't solve anything!
You've answered your question yourself.
You do need to re-train your mind! I know full well that it's not easy, but an hour/ day at a time you can do this. Sore throats can be treated. Remember to drink lots of water.
You can so do this.
Good morning Okradon, ,Tubby is right you have answered your own question. You are still in the early stages of quitting , you have to start thinking each day is another step closer to being smoke-free for good. The nicotine will have left your body by now , all your doing now is training your brain that there is no more nicotine and its time to get rid of all those poisons from tobacco.
Write down your reason for quitting and put it somewhere where you will see it everyday. A reminder why you want to quit. Each time you feel a craving or miserable, turn that feeling into a positive thought . Think each time you are a non-smoker and proud of it. xx
Okradon, don't let Nasty Nic get the better of you! You've done a week...something to be pleased about! Change your way of thinking and look for the pluses e.g. you don't smell disgusting, you've saved money this week!
Good morning John.......One week down, many more to come, but one day at a time.... you say you have had loads of sweets, nothing wrong with that but heres a suggestion for you....
Buy Jakemans Thoat and Cough sweets.... they come in a black rectangular tube..... they are available at Tescos supermarket..... dont crunch, let them dissolve in your mouth, they will sooth your sore throat
Keep going John, you know you can do this, and we are here to encourage and support you through it.
Have a nice day!! 😀🌞👍🚭 NOPE!
Congratulations Okradon your first week smoke free is fantastic, well done👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think we all expect to feel better when we quit and we will but it just takes time. Hang in there and be very proud of yourself👍🏼
Yep first time away is a little bit scary so it’s natural to feel this way. Tell yourself you can do this and a dirty smelly cig won’t fix anything. Breathe in lots of fresh air and tell yourself you don’t need a cig, life is so much better smoke free🚭✅🌺xx
Bless you Okradon I hope it eases off soon for you - it will be sooo worth it! Excellent advise on here as always to help 🤗 stay strong 💪
Okradon, you are not going to feel this dreadful for the rest of your life; believe me it really does get better. It isn't easy to feel cheerful and full of beans when you feel dreadful, but you know that this is just your mind playing tricks on you.....I do hope that it eases soon You have already gone a whole week without a cigarette.....that is quite something. Just take it one day at a time, take deep breaths and think of all the benefits of not smoking.
Keep up the great work and stay strong.
Sharron
First of all well done on being smoke free for a week, good job. Feeling crappy emotionally and physically for the first few months is a part of this process. Your brain and your body go through a lot of changes, good changes, it just does not feel very good. So power through, you have to. It's an addiction, withdrawals not fun, but we can make through it. One moment, one day at a time. Cheers.
Just keep at it put your tongue to the roof of your mouth breathe in for 3 seconds breathe out for 4 out your nose... When you mastered this go 4 in 5 out when you master that go up 5 in 6 out so on so on.. I'm 17 months free now... I love it... Go stand outside a public hospital and watch the smokers you will feel better xx
