I’m new here and have stopped smoking after 40 years. It’s only been 2 weeks and 5 days and I’m using Chantix. It’s been easy except that my taste buds have not recovered. My food taste awful. Just wondering when that will change?

Hi wvcountrygirl, well done for your decision to quit and of course for your 21 smoke free days👏. It's never easy to quit but it's easier with a little support.💪
Welcome to Quit Support.💙
Your mouth, gums and taste buds will take a little time to get used to the new ,oxygen filled, blood circulation. When i first quit my mouth hurt so much I honestly thought all my teeth would fall out! I'm not sure if your problem has anything to do with taking chantix.
Remember to drink lots of water 🚰to flush out the toxins and keep yourself hydrated.
If you feel you need anymore help please don't hesitate to ask. There's always someone here.
Please let us know the exact date of your quit so that we can assign a winners badge and add your name to the wall of winners.
Good luck with your quit🍀🚭xx

Dear wvcountrygirl, congratulations on your decision to quit smoking😁👍❗ your doing great and close to three wks! Losing tastebuds and things not tasting like anything, or things tasting weird is a common one I think. This shouldn't last much longer. It comes back gradually. I luv coffee and when I first quit, it all tasted horrible! Now, it's all good❗🌞 stay strong😊💪

Hi wvcountrygirl, your taste buds will recover, it takes time but everyone of us is different so we are unable to put a time on recovery.
