Hi Dean1981,
Well done on quiting smoking! I gave up in '05 with the help of a Stop Smoke group, and NiQuitin CQ patches and haven't looked back. I had to give up because of my asthma. Hope all goes well! 🙂
Dean, don’t know if this will help but it is nearly seven months now since I give up. I found using nicotine patches with a vape helped massive. I started on full strength patches and then when ready, fo me, after 4 months reduced down to half strength. The nicotine in the vape had been 3mg most of the time but maybe increasing strength at first when coming down to the reduced strength patch. I feel fine, don’t want a cigarette at all and have saved loads of money. It’s all about trial and error but remember it is the withdrawal of the nicotine that caused the problem so di it in a way to suit you. Ignore how long it takes. I hope to be on no patches after a twelve month period. At the moment I use them every other day. Slowly, slowly is the way to do it. Massive down side I have put two stone on. Arrrg, now I’m dieting too. Good luck.
hi my names dave i chainsmoke a box a day and im gonna die by 20 any tips to stop
Hello Dave, welcome to Quit Support and well done your decision to quit. Its not an easy thing to do but far more easier with support!
Firstly you need to decide how you are going to quit either with NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) or Cold Turkey. Then you will need to make a plan which will include a quit date and how to keep yourself busy and your mind off the withdrawal symptoms and cravings!
Have a look at the pinned posts which you will find either to the right or at the bottom of your page depending on the device you are using. There you will find lots of useful tips and information to support you in your quit and importantly keep this forum close for support and keep coming on here to ask questions, vent, have a moan or even a laugh.
Let us know when you decide to quit and we will add you to our database and assign you with a winners badge!
Good luck and by for now.
Oh by the way please start a new post instead of writing into an old one as it will get missed.
Cut out all nicotine Dean!
After 3 days you will forget you are addicted to the drug.
Hi shad_0, welcome to Quit Support💙. It's never easy to quit but it's easier with a little support.💪
