I am about 4 and 1/2 months smoke free (cold turkey). I've been feeling great the last few weeks but last night as i lay in bed to go to sleep i was hit with intense cravings. So much so it started to make me feel sad in a way I've never felt before. Almost a deep sense of hopelessness. I managed to fall asleep but i awoke with the same cravings and as the day goes on the cravings feel more intense then ever. No worries guys i am not going to smoke. I know i have to say nope! Because I've come to far, I've worked to hard and I'm enjoying all this extra money I've saved way to much to ever pick up a cigarette ever again! Not to mention i know physically i feel so much better then i did when i was a smoker! No more wheezing or heavy chest. I have more energy and everything smells and tastes better then i ever imagined it could! But the cravings and the longing for a cigarette has been so intense since last night that it is just causing me to have some depression. I figured I'd come and check in here to take my mind off things. Im focusing on all the positives of quitting and using those positive thoughts to push out the negative ones but there's still this nagging little voice that says "just have one" "you could stop after just one" "just one will take the edge off" im wise enough to know that none of that is true. It's the addiction talking. I never really thought of myself as an "addict" before. Maybe because smoking is legal and so many people do it? But i can tell you that i certainly feel like an addict now that i have quit smoking. I WILL beat this.

Hit by intense cravings out of the blue depression setting in.
Hi Katdoll, This isn`t unusual to get these sort of feelings when you think you have conquered your quit. I had a similar feeling at 6 months , like you say out of the blue. It went after a couple of days. You are a very sensible lady and I think your doing really well. Be proud and hold your head high. xx
Dear Kat,
I do think that Jilly knows. My guess is that you are basically over now and it is one or another of the final attacks. I am just after you and I was happy to see you doing just fine. Let's now hope that you come to normal in a short while.
Have a good night!
Oh no Katdoll!! I get some strong cravings every once in awhile too, but so far no depression, I have been busy keeping my husband from getting depressed, so maybe that has helped. I talked to a friend that quit years ago, and she said that the cravings really never go away, but they get to be like a fleeting thought. You are doing so good, I know that you don't want to smoke again and neither do I, we can push through, I can't believe how fast 4 months has went by.
You're doing BRILLIANTLY ☺sorry to hear you're feeling down. I hope you feel better tomorrow. 4 and a half months is a heck of an achievement.
Stay strong, this will pass. 💕
Hi Kat, everyone's right it will pass. Think of it as Nic's last stand and he can't break you hun x
Katdoll, sometimes I even get up from my desk to go out and smoke! I have to remind myself that I am not a smoker! I think we can fight this!
