Wow, I sure wasn't prepared for this! I was so tired on Wednesday, slept most of the day sleeping, on Thursday I woke up to several mouth ulcers, looking back I think my body was trying to fight this off. I was convinced that I now had mouth cancer and too afraid to google the symptoms, I finally found the courage to google this last night and was so surprised see that many of us suffer from mouth ulcers when we stop smoking, very painful, and not much that can be done but tough it out for a few weeks. I bought some liquid numbing medicine for gums, which seems to help a bit, found out the hard was that I won't be able to have any hot sauce for awhile, and I love my hot sauce!
Anybody else having this issue or advice to share?
Give it another couple of weeks and it will go. I had the same and I love my hot pepper sauce, you will be fine and stop stressing about what you can and can't have, because you can have it all girly!
No kidding, I don't need any additional stress at this point in my smoke free journey. Guess I'll be eating a lot of yogurt for the next couple of weeks, ha! Thanks Corrina, hope you have a great day and congrats on 7 weeks! Holly
Hi Corrina, thanks so much for your support, sure wish I could eat how and what I want, but I have open sores on my gums and suffering just a bit. Holly
Hi Holly - yes can relate the the mouth ulcers - and bleeding gums in my case. Both seem to be getting better now though so another symptom of recovery!
My nose even hurts from one of the canker sores on the upper part of my gum, how strange that this occurs as part of the healing process for some us of.
Stick with it Holly, you have had good advice. There is also a section under the pinned posts which Monky put on , may be worth having a look. Your doing great, xx
Hang in there holly , your doing great 😄 I suffered the same , it will settle eventually. Try rinsing with warm salt water, and use soft toothbrush. Corsodyle also good for sore gums 😘X
Hi Maddy🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷. Wish spring would hurry up in Alberta 🇨🇦 Lol. I'm okay .. would like to be planting flowers Instead of shovelling snow lol. Well I'm exaggerating a bit. We may get a snowfall but it melts fast... have a wonderful weekend xxxx
I had mouth ulcers & a sore nose, both have healed now though. My gums also started bleeding, but think that may be easing up a little now. It's the body cleansing itself so they say. Its a bit like if i start cleansing my face regularly, i get spots & i'm almost 60!
The mouth will heal soon. Well done on your 2 weeks quit, you're doing great
The roof of my mouth peeled and I was freaking out lol and Monky reassured me my gums were in the healing process ... if he wouldn't have reassured me, I swear I would have been at the dentist thinking I had cancer. Omg. The damage smoking does is frightening.... patience and support from everyone and you're a sure winner❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

It really is frightening, sure takes every ounce of will power I have not to smoke, not just today but everyday, but I'm staying strong only because of the support from everyone on this site. Congrats on 18 months, we are all winners! Holly
The back of my throat felt like peeling paint and I kept getting cold sores, not canker sores. I’m still getting cold sores, but have a prescription for it. Throat got better after a week. I smoked 42 years.
I have this too, it's so strange but now I've read your post and all the comments I feel greatly relieved. Unfortunately the pain was making the cravings feel stronger (I'm day 6) and making me tearful but feel a bit better now x
Hi, happy that you feel relieved, I do too! Wish I could offer you advice, but I think we are both in the same boat, ha! Keep in touch and stay strong, and remember, NOPE "Not one puff ever"...Holly
Hi Holly seems like mouth ulcers come and go and i have has my fair share in the last couple of months since I quit. Keep going I wonder if mouth pastilles will work? I tried just rinsing a salt solution round my mouth and it calmed them down. The point is your mouth is in recovery a good sign. Keep going!!
Hi, thanks for your reply, much better today. Congrats on 9 weeks!!!
