YET ANOTHER GO : Hi all Back again i have tried... - Quit Support
YET ANOTHER GO
Hiya Gary and welcome back to quit supportπ
Well done on day 5 and yes unfortunately it's very easy to slip up as many of us have realised. Put all that behind you and take it one day at a time. Have you seen a smoker advisor about patches coz they can give you a constant supply of nicotine and then you can use another product for the extra difficult times. So it's a 2 pronged approach. Do you find the ecig helpful as you say you're not using it much. Wonder are you still going to the gym and doing your bike rides. Coz if you are I'd say get out on your bike as it will really help you. Good luck and stay close to this site so we can help youπ
NOPE not one puff ever and you'll get to where ya want to be, smokefreeππ
Hi I think i will give the patches ago Yes still do the bike rides got one coming up in May 60 miles Thanks for the advise Great people and support on this site
Welcome back garryππ»
I really hope this time will be the last time for ya...... It's not easy.... I keep my reason close why I quit ..... Stroke in young women runs in our family .... Don't want to go there...... And this sites mantra is the ticket for me... Not One Puff Ever..... Cause I know it's that one drag from a cigarette that starts it up again.....
All the best..... Arizona x
Must say if i had one puff that would be me back on them Must admit i do enjoy smoking (That must sound strange) but i am just starting to feel the effects i.e shortness of breath so i must try hard to stop
Hi Garry ,
No .... Liking smoking doesn't sound strange at all...... I like it too but it's time now to stop before something serious happens to me and to all of us..... It a real psychological crutch for me and I'm having a really hard time quitting...... But as long as I don't take that one drag, I'll be okay....... Glad you're backππ»
If you're just starting to feel the effects, i.e. shortness of breath, you are probably still not ...... seriously....damaged.. that said, I went to see a friend yesterday, in a near town, who checks in on her two neighbors daily, mostly to see if the one is in a coma and needs to go back to the hospital. The one who is likely to go back to the hospital has only 1/3 of her lungs left, is on constant oxygen, and STILL SMOKING!!! OMG, what a vicious addiction!
Hi gary, lets call all previous attempts the practice runs
Keep this site nice and close as the support is tremendous and with people coming from all parts of the world, there is generally some one on here or at least not far away.
Great effort getting through to day 5 What is that is making you want to change the nrt you are using?? if the e-cig is working for you why not keep with that. I am no expert on NRT at all as i quit cold turkey. It really comes down to you finding what helps you the best
Does this make your quit date the 24th Jan?? - so we can update the register
Try and reflect back on what happened when you started up smoking again, if you can identify the triggers, it helps as you can then look at strategies to manage them
At the end of the day - it is going to take a strong commitment from you and we can support you the best we can on your smoke free journey..
All the very best of luck and remember - NOPE Not One Puff Ever
Linda
Many Thanks Linda Love this site and support given
We are still here for you Gary. Welcome back. xx
Hey Gary
Be positive, be confident and be strong π
This time your going do it π
The other times were just a dress rehearsal now your starring in the main event π you won't get an Oscar but you'll get a healthy life π
And 60 miles bike ride phewβΌοΈπ²
Exhausted just thinking about that . You got a tandem ? you would have to do all the pedalling though πππ
Xx
Yes this will be the time I feel ready want to quit before smoking does any major damage hopefully that has not happened yet

Hello Garry,Go easy on yourself--Its a tough addiction--Im doin it after 53 years---and it is one rocky road--but ever so often I see a little light at the end of the tunnel--and something tells me keep goin--and I will because it wants to kill me and I want to live-Be a warrior and do serious battle with this .I will be damned if I let it win,,...Im doing e-cig too--but just an occasional puff--I sleep like a rock now--I can breathe so deep--there is no bottom--I think it is changing me in so many good ways-Parts of me I never knew existed are coming alive..I went from puberty into old age addicted to nicotine--Enough already--right???...I have went thru a myriad of withdrawal symptoms and just when I think ok--what else? something else weird comes along -but good things too--I try to concentrate on them--I want a cigarette believe me--but I never, ever, never, want to go thru this again and I kno in time I would have to--One day at a time and hang onto site.. --well wishes Madame T
Thank you Madam T Managed first weekend including having a few beers so well pleased
Good for you--take it slow and easy--I can hardly believe im doing it--I don't dwell on my success to long--just let the days go by--and time is growing--and im living without my crutches
3 Months That is excellent
a lotta changes and surprises-like a rollercoaster--I am not craving mentally tho it still effects moods because Im not so fuzzy anymore-and some physical withdrawals-it gets to be a whole separate thing from your psyche--like your body is an organism that wants....and is missing a part
