I understand that Cigs gives goverments huge amount of tax however why are other addictive substances banned and not Nicotine.What other benefits does Nicotine have besides providing income to goverments at the cost of millions of people health.

Hi it's because they say that smoking costs the NHS a lot of money, but in reality along with alcohol and petrol tax they are considered 'cash cows' by all Governments.

Also the theory is if you put heavy taxes on ciggies then people will be forced to give up. But by the same token they couldn't afford to lose the taxes so they are hypocrites. That's why I think rubbish health warnings are given. If they really wanted everyone to stop they would ban them completely. x
