Bad week: Having a really bad week this week... - Quit Support
Bad week
Hi Lottie,
sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch. Sadly it is a very common part of the quitting process.
It is all part of the process where ole mr nic will try and get you smoking again.. See if you can identify what the the triggers that makes you constantly think about cigarettes, if you do can identify the trigger, you can then put strategies in place to manage it..
You are doing fantastic..and in my opinion, the first 12 weeks is the most challenging, so you are almost there..
Keep strong...and laugh at ole mr nic..and let him know you are in control of you not him
Good morning and sorry you are having a bad week! But I'd say you've come to the right place! Everyone here is pulling for you. And everyone has had a bad day, period, week, time, whatever, you name it.
Just stay strong, busy yourself. Seek out the negative on the nasty cigs and remember how great it feels to be a nonsmoker!
We all believe in you being a quitter. 👍🏼🚭👏🏼🙆
Just a couple more emojis and I'll away! 🍂🎃🍁👻 haha
Seriously - best of luck and don't cave! Cigs are NOT your BFF they are really your worst enemy. They will deceive you. They have gotten us all and now we are taking control. Stay strong! We all know the feeling, and we all fully support you.
Best wishes to you!
Hiya Lottie, unfortunately we do tend to get this from time to time😥 We can be sailing along quite happily and BOOM out of nowhere, all we can think about is cigs😩 It will pass and remember you're doing really well and you'll get past this. Keep going hun coz we're all here right behind you, willing you on and it will get better😊x
I definitely went through this and then re read Alan Carrs book and stopped saying I had given up smoking and started to tell myself (and anyone else that would listen) that I didn't smoke not that I had given up. It made a difference in my head and eventually I never thought of it as GIVING UP. NOPE
Stay strong Lottie, we are all with you. I had some of what you are going through, its a long time ago now, you CAN definitely get through it, and a lot of us on here know the patches of bumpy road you get over around or straight through the middle of sometimes. It's such an important journey, you gain so much, and lose a horrible tricksy false friend.
Keep on giving yourself ALL the credit you richly deserve - you are doing brilliant. Lots of good advice above, and I'd just add mine. Do as many of the things you like/love/enjoy as possible, treat yourself and praise yourself like the star you are! We know your brilliant, hope you do too
Wishing you a good and feel good smoke free day
Good morning Lottie24☕️ I think everyone who stops cigarettes has their days/weeks/moments where cigarettes seem like the answer to dealing with whatever is going on in our lives....... Remember cigarettes give us more depression and anxiety not the opposite...... Maybe do something different or nice for yourself .......Andy buys herself flowers for an example.......you're ahead of me by a month !!!! Fantastic👏 Keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Lottie .. I hit a similar slump about the same time .. not at all uncommon. In fact, it is also very common for persons recovering from other addictions to "mourn" the loss of their former "friend". A powerful enemy disguised as a friend.
Know that having a smoke won't help you in any way. Hang in there a day at a time ... and it will be easier to pay less attention -- or no attention at all to these thoughts. Let us know how you make out.
Hi Lottie,
Sorry to hear that you're feeling bad, hopefully this won't last long.
My worst week was week 8 too & I felt sad and teary about everything, all the time, for no reason at all. Luckily, the misery disappeared around day 5 and has never returned. I never wanted to experience that again though, so it was definitely no more smoking & therefore no more quits, for me. Just another good reason to stop.
I hope that you feel better very soon xx
