4 Months without Mr. Nic!

I quit tobacco some years ago and replaced it with e-cigs. That became a lifestyle of "smoking on my terms". Part of me does miss being able to vent my frustration by smoking (vaping) at my desk in the office.

I quit the e-cig March 19th (at about 10:00pm). The first month was very difficult (with about weeks 2 & 3 being the hardest for me).

I haven't had Mr. Nic since then!

I still get occasions where I "fancy" a vape, but I can manage that.

I'm surprised it's been 4 months now!

All those who are just starting their quit journey, I'm not going to lie, it's not easy. But the reward is there! I'm financially better off, not to mention I'm not sneaking off to puff.

I feel a lot better for it. I thin I'm sleeping better, or at least I sleep a little less (I feel like I need about 20 mins less sleep most nights than I used to). I'm not quite sure why but I just seem to wake a little earlier.

Glad to see I'm not the only one sticking to their decision to stay quit.

This forum was a surprisingly strong help!

Well done DavidH83,

Yes I agree that vaping can be difficult to quit & it can take a long time to kick the habit, during my journey of quitting I tried vaping and noticed a few things that scared me....1. my heart rate seemed to quicken, when I was sitting or resting I could really feel my heart pounding

......2. My lungs seemed to be hurting when I breathed

.......3. After reading some instructions on my e-cig I realised that I was still paying a particular cigarette manufacturer.

This had to stop and something strange happened to me one night at work, my e-cig needed charging and I used my pc's USB port as usual to charge it.

But after maybe 2 hours I took out the battery and screwed the e-cig......shock horror!!! It did not work!! Plenty of e-cig juice in the chamber, lights are on, but no vaping !!! I looked at the e-cig & snapped it in half and chucked it in the bin, I also used to carry various flavours of e-cig juice with me....into the bin they went.

My drive home was also interesting I seemed to be calmer than usual.....so I agree that when you stop smoking you do replace it with other habits and it is important to notice the difference between smoking & vaping.

Just like NRT, vaping in my opinion should not be long term if used properly it can help during the tricky period when you first stop....not everybody can stop using the Cold Turkey method..... 🔨🚬

I agree that vaping should not be a long term solution. I always looked at it as being like the Diet Coke of smoking, it's not good for you but general consensus is that it's a lot less bad for you than tobacco. If a friend/family member wasn't ready to quit cigarettes, i'd recommend them to move on to vaping.

It's interesting that you had breathing issues with vaping, the one thing I noticed was that it didn't impact my breathing or impair me at the gym.

Not what you're looking for?
