Hi laura, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. What you are describing certainly does sound like it is part of the quitting process as our bodies adjust to the not smoking. I too quit cold turkey and got the headaches. At times they were unbearable, but they do get better and it does stop. I got the headaches at around the 3 week mark and would get them off and on for a period of about 10 days. Like everything else, these are very temporary and it does get better.. Hang in there and ride it out.

You are doing brilliantly with your quit :) :) If you are really concerned, talk to your GP :) :).

All the very best Laura.

make sure you keep your fluids up. once i started to that the headaches went..it was kinda like dehydration headaches....All the very best :)

Hi Laura

I agree with glolin, it's dehydration probably. I had the same thing! And, my gums bled like crazy and they throbbed. That's where the small blood vessels that were starved when you were smoking are getting back to normal. dont be at all surprised if other weird and wonderful sensations happen....

Just search for the 'symptom' on this site as you are bound to find others that have gone through the same thing. chin up, you're doing great and it does get better.

Hi Laura, First of all welcome to quit support. Well done on deciding to quit. The headaches are not unusual when you first stop smoking. Try drinking plenty of water ,that usually helps. If the headaches get any worse have a quick word with your GP. just for peace of mind.

Have a browse through the topics section, hints and tips and symptoms of recovery.

Stay strong. :)

October 19th at 9 pm was my last cigarette I have an app that counts my time... seems to keep me motivated .... I've been eating really healthy and had cut out sodas so I think it might have been a worse headache due to the lack of caffeine and nicotine.. now I just feel like im on the verge of a cold... this is not fun at all.... one day I'm up working out , running around town and another day I have no energy and find it hard not to stay in bed all day.... thank goodness I'm on a break from classes til January because I would have a hard time with a set schedule these days.... thanks for the encouraging words everyone

Feeling better today figured out that starting my diet made the mild headaches worse due to no caramel macchiatos or sodas.... I'm not a big caffeine junkie but I noticed when I had a coke last night my headache was much better... so drinking green tea in late afternoon when headaches were starting and never got one today.... I quit on the 22nd at 9pm ... have a great app that tracks everything for me... thanks for all the encouraging words
