deicide to give it another go at quitting
Hi Stacy and welcome to this wonderful friendly site
Congratulations on your decision to go cold turkey and there are lots of members who have done cold turkey, so a huge amount of support and information is available for you.
I can imagine the shock of finding your lung age BUT the good news is that you can improve your lung function, so no need to worry. You are doing the very best thing you can by quitting. If you have any problems just come on here and there's always someone around to help. Have a chat if ya get a craving and it takes your mind of things as we all know what you're going through. It has made a huge difference to me to be able to chat with others who are going through the same thing. Good luck and stay positive and you CAN do this x
Hi Stacey, well done for just going for it, and as Briarwood said there are loads of people on here who will encourage and support you and give tips and advice along the way I did my quit cold turkey and I'm now 1 month shy of 18 months quit. It's not easy and there will be some horrible cravings but you just have to remind yourself that it won't last forever. Each craving is actually quite short and the time between them gets longer until you realise you no longer crave. You can do this and will feel great for it good luck x
Hi ya Stacey, just want to welcome you to this friendly quit support forum and a massive well done to you for deciding to quit the smokes
I cant really say much more than Briar and Lily have said already, but if your determined enough, then you can and will do it
If there is anything you want to know about, you just come and ask, or if you just want a chat, come and have a chat, cos it does help some of us including myself plus we try to have a bit of a laugh as well
Stay with us and let us know how your getting on
Good luck, Pete
welcome Stacey, and good on you for making the commitment to quit. Pete is so right, if you have the determination you will succeed. I too have quit cold turkey after smoking a pkt a day for 40 years. Just over 3 months for me now and like Lilymay said, there will be some horrid days ahead, but they do pass and it does get easier
All the very best of luck on your quit journey
Hi staceymw1808, welcome to our online stop smoking community, Quit Support
Congratulations on making the best decision for your health, by stopping smoking.
I hope all is going well for you so far and that you are quickly heading towards hitting your first 24 hour mark
Your lung function will improve over time Just remember to stay positive and take each craving as you find it. Think of cravings as a positive sign that your body and mind are just recognising that you are no longer feeding it all those 4,000 plus poisonous toxins
You can do this!
