15 days off cigs and smoked for 22 years and I am 39 years old. Been gaping all that time. Over the last 3 days I have felt horrible.

What you need to do is get your mind off that smoking any way you can. Remember, all that tar and nicotene turns into a gooey substance in your lungs, and then you cough it out. It can make you feel a little short of breath sometimes, but if it's extreme, you need to see a Dr. Keep taking your Welbutrin and drink a lot of water, and I mean a lot! The best would be 1 cup each hour, of water, juice, tea or coffee, but don't drink too much with caffeine, as that will dehydrate you. When I quit, I used Welbutrin and I would buy big bags of hard candy. I found it really helped with the cravings, and I didn't put on any weight from it that I can't easily lose again. I don't know if the anxiety is related to quitting, or if you are ill and it may be a side affect, so I would say call your GP and see if they can determine why you are short of breath and anxious.

Hi DC

Well done for getting to 15 days that is brilliant, half way to your first month woooohoooo!

I am on the Ecig too, and i find it makes my craving less if i tell myself my ecig gives me the nicotine i need. Your body is busy detoxing from the other 4000+ poisons which when you think about it is a big task!

Stay strong x

Hi, when I started vaping I felt unwell and it was because my mg of fluid was to low. I started with 16mg and was agitated so I upped it to 24mg. I felt slightly better but restless. I decided to get the 32mg and mixed some of this with the 24mg and that did it for me. I have been vaping for 8 months now and I'm on to approx 20mg mix now and I feel ok still.

I was breathless for awhile and coughed a lot of muck up. Today my chest is good considering. I use my inhalers a lot less than when I smoked. It will get better for you.

Hey,

I never vapped but I know all to well the anxiety and shortness of breath.

Mine went on for quite a few months and even now I still cough a little and bring up tar.

Getting some reassurance from your GP would be good.

This should also help with your anxiety. But when you feel anxious just try and slow your breathing down and calm your mind. The anxiety will pass.

Has any research been done into how long it takes for the lungs to clear all the tar and gunge that has built up in them over the years?

Is it many years or only a matter of months and can you do anything to help them clear quicker?
