Why I want to smoke !!

1)They help me when I get stressed out. ( Although this might just be psychological )

2)They help me think. ( here again this might just be psychological )

3)It’s easier than quitting.

4)Simply enjoy it

Why I want to quit smoking !!

1)Breathe easier.

2)Coughing and spluttering.

3)Walk up stairs without getting out of breath.

4)Whiter teeth

5)Healthier gums

6)Breath not smelling of fags

7)Clothes not smelling of fags

8)Better complexion. ( Smooth skin, More colour, Less wrinkles )

9)Better circulation in my hands and feet

10)Better health all round

11)Have money to spend on what I WANT TO ( Not having to put money aside for fags )

12)Getting my taste back

13)Not having a Furry tongue

14)Getting my sense of smell back

15)No standing outside in the cold and wet

16)Not having to think if I have enough fags to last me the day

17)No yellow fingers

18)Not having to carry a pack of fags and a lighter around with me

This is how I got ready and focused for my quit date, I am sure that you could come up with some more of your own reasons, either for or against smoking, so get thinking and let me know, then I can put them on the list eh :)

Awesome list Pete. Something I miss is my lighter. The grill doesn't light properly so I always needed a lighter to light it!! Bugger haha

It's strange cause even after nearly 4 months I still tap my pocket to see if I have my bacci in there. Then I remember I don't smoke anymore

6 months stopped on Tuesday for me and today I am going through the most horrendous withdrawal I am shaking, crying and sat curled up, everything i try to do or pick up I drop, the only good thing is the shops shut :o)

Aww Linda what do you think has brought this on?

You know the craving will pass. Breathe slowly and focus

I have no idea really but the people who own one of the flats next door ( the house next door is broken up into flats ) have been down for the weekend And I could smell fresh cigarette smoke every time they lit up, plus the ground floor smoke outside right under my computer room window, this is all i can think it could be. i really want to go and mug them.

Hey hey Lin, just calm down a bit eh, take some deep breaths :) slowwwww dowwwwwwwn a bit :) Maybe have a drink of water :) just try this breathing exercise please :)

Cravings lead to irritation and sometimes panic, causing the quitter’s mind to speed up. When this occurs, concentrating becomes hard. Using a deep breathing exercise is an effective way of calming yourself down.

This exercise can be done anywhere from sitting down in a chair to waiting for a bus. Follow the simple stages described below;

With your mouth closed and shoulders relaxed, inhale deeply and slowly to the count of eight.

As you breathe in, push your stomach out.

Hold your breath for the count of four.

Breathe out slowly to the count of eight.

Repeat the cycle five times

I have a relaxation Cd, I have eaten a box of grapes two tangerines including the skin, it's just one of those days, I think i will try a valium and bed with my stoopid plastic inhalator that is doing nothing for me at the moment

Lin, I think you've got it in one gal, you get to bed with a cuppa and a biccy eh, and try to relax a bit eh :) think about the good times, like going on hols, or what would you do if you won the lottoooooooo :) :)

Nite nite gal, calming down huggs heading your way, you take care eh :) Pete :)

Thanks for the list i will have a good look at it

hope you are feeling better today. sorry to hear you having a bad time

I have been ciggie free for almost 3 months, I know what you mean some days ifeel really down and depressed, so I try to distract my thoughts by doing something I enjoy

Sleep also helps
