Hi, I'm due to start taking

Questran for Bile Acid Malabsorption
Does anyone know an alternative medication for
Questran
as there is now unavailability due to supply problems? I am having a bad attack of Bile Acid Malabsorption at the moment and am virtually housebound by it! Any help would be much appreciated 🙏

Prostate cancer treatment and IBS
At the moment, I've got IBS looseness and urgency under reasonable control by taking the treatment for bile acid malabsorption (
Questran
powder) although I have not been formally diagnosed with bam: who knows, the benefit of
Questran
could simply be the placebo effect!

more of Dr. Jones' '2 minutes versions'
from Dr Jones' book - Cholestyramine (
Questran
) is the first line treatment for the itching. If this doesn't work, then taking Rifampicin is the next line of therapy. Even when this is effective, it can make the liver worse.

I feel my PBC is getting worse and no one is listening
I’ve started
questran
for the itch but only every other day at he moment because it makes me feel a bit nauseated. I’m taking anthystamines at night to help me sleep but often only getting 5 or 6 hours and feeling as though my batteries are flat all day.

Should I take more Questran light
Shall I the more
Questran
light? I’ve had debilitating IBS my whole adult I’m now 67. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago which made my D problem even worse. I’ve been on
Questran
light for 12 years and it has been a life saver until 2 years ago.

Urgency/incontinence control?
I do take
Questran
(I have had a bowel resection, dormant Crohn's very fortunately) and that is very helpful but unknown foreign spices can bring unwanted surprises? The nature of the trip would be such that always eating out of grocery stores would be impossible.

When to take Questran or Colestid powder
I am taking one sachet of
Questran
or Colestid powder (containing colestyramine or colestipol hydrochloride respectively) per day to control suspected bile acid malabsorption (I have a cooperative doctor - but I haven't been tested for BAM) and therefore IBS D - and with some success.

Itch / bile acids / diet
I have written down the names of 6 different medications mentioned in the forums, such as Cholestyramine (
Questran
) - it's my understanding they bind the bile acid/salts that are under our skin and make us itch.
