Shall I the more Questran light?

I’ve had debilitating IBS my whole adult I’m now 67. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago which made my D problem even worse. I’ve been on Questran light for 12 years and it has been a life saver until 2 years ago. My problem is in mornings when I’m in toilet at least 10 times within 1st hour of waking and it’s back to the light D which feels like acid going through me. This is what it was like 12 years ago after gallbladder removal. I take 2 sachets in morning after meds 1 hour previous. My prescription is up to 3 sachets a day. Should I take 1 sachet at night to help with constant morning runs. Does anyone else take at night to help with morning running?

Hi, I am new to this site and this is the 1st time I have posted so you all must forgive me if I get this wrong. I am also a 69 yr old and have suffered with IBS symptoms for 20 yrs. I had my gallbladder removed 12 yrs ago and my D symptoms got so much worse, I was prescribed Questran Light by my GP. I take one sachet in the evening and this enables me to take Imodium in the morning on days when D is bad or I need to go out . I have tried two sachets but suffered so much night time bloating so have gone now back to one. Getting meds right seems to be my problem too as no one size fits all. I have tried so many things low FODMAP on two occasions both with registered dietitions. One Questran at night works for me with my Imodium in the morning. Hope this has been a bit of a help to you. Sending you best wishes.

After Pollyboo's excellent reply, there is just one thing I would add. I believe Questran Light has sweetner in it (which seems a bit silly really), perhaps you could ask for the normal Questran without the sweetner to see if that is better! Just a thought!

Hi, Yes I agree Questran Light has a sweetener which I was also unsure about myself. I have thought to ask to change but in the past have had so much trouble to obtain Questran it seems to go out of supply. Not being able to speak to a GP very easily at the moment it is somewhat difficult. After reading your post perhaps it is now time to try to speak to GP about a change. Thank you Maureen
