Questran
I’ve been taking
Questran
for five days now, to stop itching related to jaundice. Does anyone else have experience of this medication and how soon does it usually take effect? The itching is really impacting on my quality of life.

Cholestagel stock problems
The Gastroenterologist agreed with me and prescribed
Questran
, he would not send me for seHCaT test! No supplies at chemists so he then prescribed Cholestagel. My symptoms disappeared overnight with my first months supply.

HE SAID YES!!!
Said yes to prescribing me a Bile sequestrant (
Questran
light / Colestyramine) It took a lot of nagging but I managed to get him to agree to the medication... just 1 sachet a day... with a follow up in ONE YEAR. Anyway, has anyone else tried this medication? What experiences have people had?

Bile Acid Malabsorption - SeHcat scan
I was advised by another doctor that as an alternative, I could go on a course of the medication used to treat Bile Acid Malabsorbtion (like
Questran
) to see if it makes a difference to my symptoms - and therefore that could confirm or rule out a diagnosis. Has anyone had similar success?

Questran
If there are any
questran
users out there could you help me out? I have been taking it for 8 days, started on 1 sachet per day and increased to 3 per day in line with prescription. Stools are firmer (and full of mucus and what looks like fat?) but I’m still going 6 times a day or more.

Upping the dose of Questran/cholestyramine
My mom was recently diagnosed with PBC and her doctor prescribed a daily sachet of
Questran
for her to help with the itching, but the itching doesn’t go away and it’s really bothering her, so I was wondering if it’s okay to increase the dose and take like 2 sachets a day?

Questran stopped again!
For the second time this year our supply of
Questran
has dried up. Goodness knows if this is due to Brexit already, or just bad luck. How do you manage when you can't obtain it? Any hints and suggestions would be so gratefully received.

Questran Lite
I have been on
Questran
Lite for about a month now, and it has finally reduced my itching. Just wondering whether others can share their experiences of it, and also wondering if I will have to take it indefinitely. It is awful for the bowels. :-(

Lung CT Scan showed: "Mild bilateral apical pleural and left lower lobe thickening"
32, 185cm, 85kg, Male,
Questran
Lite/Infliximab infusion medication, non-smoker, had Asthma and currently have Crohn's disease. I get atrial fibrillation only when I have a fever. I got a cough earlier this year and my doctor did a CT scan which showed a bit of thickening on the lung.

Started on questran but still itching....:o(
On the advice of many of you, I asked my GP for
questran
and have been taking 1 sachet for over a week. Unfortunately I am still having episodes of itching (am itching as I write this - which is unusual as I almost always itch at night...)

PBC Vit D now getting bone pain
I was diagnosed with PBC by gastro and put on URSO and
questran
. I also went to see the general medicine guy and he said he couldn’t understand why I had been sent to see him. So I think he felt sorry for me and said would run some vitamin test as a Vit D deficiency could be causing muscle pain.

itchy help. PBC diagnose questions- where do we go now
I was started on
questran
to help with the itching and while I was hopeful it worked in the beginning, it didnt me much relief. From there I tried rifampin and sertraline both of which did not work. My doctors then prescribed naltrexone as thats known to help most people with itching.

B12 injections/Questran
When taking
Questran
a window of 4-6 hours has to be left before taking any other medication in tablet form. I cannot believe that intramuscular injections would be affected by the
Questran
but I do not know what else to think of and of course the GP could only suggest asking the specialist.

Recipes for Questran if you are struggling!
Just saw somebody mention cooking with it, alarm bells rang as I would put money on heating it removing its efficacy. However these are sauces and soups and meals only to be added after. Hope it may help a few. http://www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk/Services/Documents/Cooking_with_Questran.pdf
