It's been 10 years since I had my prostatectomy. I was 57 at the time and it was a robotic surgery which fortunately saved my sexual nerves. As you all know nothing is the same after surgery.
I now live in Florida. When I lived in Manhattan there was a rather large support group and I had developed some wonderful friendships and support both in person as well as on line.
I am looking to find other men who are in a similar situation for support and friendship and hopefully not too far geographically.
Thank you guys.
Sincerely,
Peter

Hi Peter, I'm new to this site and newly diagnosed. I had my biopsy on June 3, and the results came back with one 3+3 and two 3+4. I'm still looking at options regarding treatment, but I'm grateful for the experiences of others, not necessarily to make my decision for me, but to know all the ramifications and pathways that may results from whatever treatment I choose.
I'll be 67 in a few weeks, but I'm aiming for another 25-30 years ahead of me. I live in Western Kentucky, near Evansville, Indiana, with my husband.
Hi Peter. I'm 66 and had my prostate removed robotically 2 years ago. All tests have, so far, shown that the cancer was removed completely, but I have zero erectile function. I am a closeted bisexual man living in a straight marriage. Sex in my marriage started declining in my 40s. I do love me wife, and enjoy the sex we do have. I started exploring sex with men at that time as I would not spend the rest of my life with infrequent sex. I am able to achieve an erection with a vacuum pump or injections. Both methods have allowed me to have vaginal and anal sex. I have joined 2 Zoom support groups for english-speaking men who have had or are dealing with prostate cancer. 1 group is all Canadian Gay men, and 1 group is with straight men from english speaking countries all over the world. I highly suggest you finding a group to join. Talking to like-minded men has been a lifeline!....and of course..... I am here to talk to whenever you'd like.
Please let me know what web sites you are talking about. I am always interested.
I have met many married men who have had the surgery and chose to have sex with men after their prostate was removed. It is great if you can find a play mate who has gone through the same procedure.
I do wish there was a dating app for guys like us.
I learned how to take care of myself with the pump and the fleshlight, etc.., but nothing comes close to being with someone and experiencing the intimacy.
Check out the CONTACT to see how to register for meetings. As I said, this is NOT necessarily a group for straight men. The members know I am married to a woman, but I have, on several occasions, mentioned that I have sex with men before and after my prostate operation.
The one specifically for gay men is a Canada based group that I discovered because one of the men in my Recovering Man group runs the Canadian meeting.
Hi Peter! Sorry for the delay. It took a while to get in touch with the leader of the group I was talking about. You can contact Alex at GBTQ@prostatecancersupport.ca
Thank you so much Sheldon. I have an appointment with my urologist on Tuesday and we will be discussing all this. He has expressed interest in helping me develop some kind of support forum in the Fort Lauderdale area and was quite surprised that one does not exist. I greatly appreciate this information and will explore the various sites when I have some down time.
Hi Peter. I was having so much trouble signing into the Zoom meeting yesterday and was flustered that I did not say HELLO in person!! (my bad, forgive me!) How did you find the meeting? Is it what you are looking for?
Malecare (the nonprofit that runs this community) has a biweekly gay prostate cancer support group on zoom. Send me your email and I will send you the info. Also we would be happy to help you set up a group in your area. Let me know! Darryl @ malecare.org
