Hi Gents,

I was a member here for a long time and switched to the Advanced Cancer Group. The posts on that group can get very depressing. In a nutshell: I have had this disease over 16 years. I have been on Erleada + Lupron + Xgeva for 3 years now. I can’t get it up. I have been single for about a decade. I don’t care for the bottom bunk. Now, I have found out I need to use a catheter to void my bladder. My uro blames it on scar tissue on my urethra from radiation I had over 15 years ago. My oncologist thinks it may be due to a recent spinal I had for a total hip replacement. My urinary issues only occurred after my hip surgery.

I am pretty down, don’t feel desirable at all and wondering why am I on catheters now. Any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks a bunch.

Is the self-catheterization expected to be permanent? Have you discussed hyperbaric oxygen?

Hi Allen!!

Sounds to me on the permanent side. The uro basically gave me a choice of a foley or self-catheterization. That was it.

Please tell me more.

Thanks!!

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can sometimes reverse radiation cystitis:

onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

It has also been used to reverse the effects of a spinal epidural abscess:

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/163...

Someone in my support group just went through HBOT and it worked well for him.

Yes, but it is in flux right now. Darryl has an online group, but I have to restart my live group in L.A. (temporarily on ZOOM). I'll announce it when we have restarted it.
