Does Lupron cause achey muscles?

Been on a 6 month Lupron shot since last September. Aside from the annoying hot flashes and other general side effects, does it cause achey muscles or muscle fatigue? I’m halfway thru my radiation therapy (4 weeks) so perhaps the combo of both? This new condition just started.

Yes, the Lupron does cause Achey muscles and fatigue.

Everything will get much better when you finish your Lupron Shots.

Just takes time and patience.

Hello Zhockazulu, I have been on 3 month shots of Lupron (Eligard- generic) for 7 years now. My PSA has been 0.00 for 7 years, so I will stay on it. My side effects at this time are mild now, yet I occasionally I have hot and cold spells and muscle cramps. When I was stage 1 PCa in 2007 I was given 42 radiations. In 2011 my PSA went up to 72 because of a fast growing cancer. So they gave me 30 more radiations and started me on Lupron. The first year I had muscle cramps which I was able to control with Tylenol Arthritic Strength (650mg 8 hour Timed Release) - generic, which is available in most pharmacies over-the-counter. I use this also for cramping. When my oncologist gave me a CBC test my hemoglobin was low as well as my Vit B12. When I took the Vit B12 supplements under the tongue I felt a lot better. By taking timed release Tylenol I can sleep for 8 hours which was very helpful. Also, since I snore I use a CPAP mask, which keeps my oxygen level above 94 at night and humidifies the air I breath.

I hope your oncologist gave you a list of about 17 side effects from Lupron. Lupron does not kill off cancer cells in the prostate, but rather it virtually stops the cells from multiplying. Since I am stage 4 now (metastatic cells throughout my body), if I stop Lupron injections the cells outside my prostate could form tumors. Many of the metastatic cells are in my bones now, which causes my bones to weaken. I am given Xgeva shots (an osteoporosis medicine)

when my bone density is low.
