I posted about what I was dealing with 9months after my surgery but I didn't elaborate on the diagnosis portion. I had my biopsy Jan of 2017 Happy New Year my PSA 10/25+9.90 . The results were some chronic inflammation left mid left lateral apex benign but right mid right base were both suspicious areas atypical glands were found the right lateral base was prostatic adenocarcinoma Gleason grade 4+5=9 in 60% of that sector. I was given all of the options including the opinion of my Urologist and my first cousin who had this situation a year before me and a few good friends who had also revealed that they faced this crisis. On 3/16/17 4+5 Gleason trus sizing of 23 grams I a had Robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy with a complication of a rectal tear. The prostate was attached to the anterior rectal wall and there was a tear in removal. After the surgery and repair I was in stable condition but spent 17 days in Hospital for recovery and after less than a week home had a pulmonary embolism for and additional 10 day stay. My recovery has been slow and steady and hoping my numbers remain good and I continue to progress.

Is your PSA undetectable now?

I just read your story. It sounds like quite an ordeal to say the least. How are you doing today. What symptoms if any I.e. incontinence. Or ED issues or others not mentioned. Do you believe you made the best decisions base or what you were advised by the doctor/eurologist. We’re there other perhaps less invasive option you could havre considered?
Thanks for reading. I'm using one pad a day for incontinence issues. I have learned if it feels odd just go to the bathroom. ED wise I don't like the viagra because it stresses me out wondering if its going to work or not. I find that although I dont have a standing erection it now firms up and fills out nicely with no pill but as I am celibate by choice I don't know what it would be like with a person probably better than my last attempt. The new wrinkle is now that I'm getting closer to having a natural erection my numbers are up and rising so radiation is now in my future.
In response to your question about my treatment on my choice of treatment I don't think I would have gone another way because they found that the prostate was attaching itself to the interior rectal wall which means that it would have probably spread had I not taken the course that I took right now I'm feeling pretty good about everything I'm hoping to be cancer-free.
