I'm having a phone consultation with my GP soon and one of things I am planning on discussing is the flu jab.
I know, as a lupus sufferer (diagnosed in March so still new to all this), I am supposed to get the pneumococcal jab every 5 years and the flu jab every year. I got the pneumococcal jab 4 weeks ago but still haven't had the flu jab. The last time I had a flu jab, in 2017, I was hospitalised with pneumonia shortly afterwards which might suggest that I already had lupus then, who knows?
A week or so ago I saw a post in which other lupus sufferers said that they, too, had had pneumonia after having the flu jab which got me thinking (and worrying, especially as my meds still aren't working fully and I would have to come off methotrexate if I needed any antibiotics).
I need to discuss this thoroughly with my GP (bear in mind she isn't a lupus expert) so would like some evidence before generalising. Which is where you lot come in, if you don't mind?
How many of you, who have lupus, have had pneumonia shortly after having the flu vaccination? If you did get pneumonia, had you already had the pneumococcal vaccine?
Thanks ever so much for your help.
