Southern France Farm

Today I attended an art class through Goldster -- an online site that provides assorted classes for those of us who are getting on a bit. The class was to paint a farm in Southern France in watercolour. I, however, decided to draw it instead, so as to sort out where the different value masses (lights and darks) lay. Such a thing is useful before doing a painting, although I am not sure how I would now proceed while painting it in my own style. No matter; I had lots of fun.

This is a really fantastic drawing you've done, BrentW . Thank you for sharing it with us this evening. It reminds me a little of the houses where my Grandparents lived before I moved as a 6 year old. :-)

That's so good Brent and I love sketches. You certainly have talen. 👍

Very well done Brent. 👏👏👏

You use this study to do your watercolor of course.

There are watercolor pencils that you can essentially do the same technique then with a wet brush you follow through.

Do studies in watercolor little sections of your composition at a time.

Then when comfortable do the whole thing.

Eventually you can branch out using the watercolor paints.

Just remember watercolors dry lighter versus acrylic which dry darker.

Have fun with it. Enjoy it.

I always did.

Another of your perfect compositions!

These online classes seem like such an awesome idea BrentW. It gives such a great opportunity to be able to stay home but still have expert tuition. Your drawing is lovely and does convey French farm very clearly! I'd say though that if you want to paint it, just go ahead and try, without worrying about the nuances which might be missing by not actually being there.

Lovely drawing, I wish I was there. I wish I could draw too but I'm not very arty. I shall have a look at the site though, many thanks for sharing.
