Ann Chambers, whose mother suffers with PMR, has pulled out all the stops to set up a support group in the North West region. The first meeting will be at the Greyhound Hotel in Leigh, on Tuesday 5th March at 2pm. If you are local to the North West or North Wales and would like more information, please email us at info@pmrgcauk.com.
Here are Ann and Kate meeting Andy Burnham MP, the member of Parliament for Leigh, at his surgery yesterday afternoon. Andy, who serves as Shadow Health Secretary, was extremely interested to hear about PMR and GCA and particularly our work to raise awareness of the symptoms of GCA in order to avoid sight loss.
We are really excited about the new group in the North West as it was a big gap in the support group network. Here's wishing Ann every success!

this sounds really great,do we have a support group in the north at all I am 5miles west of Middlesbrough and have some very dear friends in Newcastle upon Tyne with Temporal Arteritis just think it would be great idea to may be get something going up north, what do you think lady's? I was working this time last year as a support tutor for a private company in Newcastle upon Tyne travelling to Newcastle 3 days a week teaching adults with learning difficulties really enjoyed the work and of course having to leave work due to days when you look and feel like something the cat has drag through a large door and looking like a squirrel that has been totally greedy and without really trying look like miss piggy due to high dose,s of steroids, well what a shock to the nervous system,or in our cases immune system, thank goodness I have not lost my sense of hum er( yet )Ritter
Yes, there is a very active support group that covers Middlesbrough, South Durham and Teeside - just Google PMR & GCA UK North East to find all the details.
