New Strava support group

A member of the Mayo Clinic Polymyalgia Rheumatica forum has started a Strava group for people with PMR and/or GCA. Here is her post about the group:

"I use STRAVA on my phone for my exercise and even just dog walking. So I thought it would be a good idea to start a group on there for people with PMR and/or GCA. I have called it Beating POLYMYALGIA and GCA. So please join me on there, even if you just go for a gentle walk, jog, swim or gym session. Even gardening, shopping etc counts as you are still moving. Just make sure it is logged on STRAVA. Hopefully we can support each other through exercise."

Please feel to join this group.

Strava was set up as a social network for athletes, it can be a useful tool for tracking and monitoring progress, but it's crucial to adapt the Strava platform to individual needs and the limitations of PMR and GCA. Personally I would prefer to just swim and garden without any checks, but just concentrate on my diet. Everyone to their own. Good luck with the Strava Group though, just because I am a miserable old …..

Great if your fit for it. Good luck. I only know fitties that get full use the subscription. Great motivator.

Thanks. I only use the free part of it.

Gee, most folks , I think, would be thankful for a link. I'm going to Google Strava because this is the first time I have heard of it.

I can't provide a direct link, other than to strava.com. If you're not already a member of Strava, you would first have to create an account. Then you would have to search clubs for "Beating POLYMYALGIA RHEUMATICA and GCA", and then request to join that club.

That's great! It's nice to connect with someone who has recovered from PMR.
