Good news and bad news

Text from gp confirms that CT scan and chest X-ray are clear and says that she is very pleased with latest blood test results but that sonic scan shows minor vascular disease and that she will be in the surgery if if (!) I want to discuss on Monday. I am trying not to over react and hanging on to the word ‘minor’ but did have a little cry. Was just beginning to feel a bit better about things ....

Congratulations on the GOOD NEWS in your post. It must be a relief to find out there is nothing serious bubbling under the surface.

You probably didnt want any "bad" news rolled into the good, so it must be disheartening to hear about signs of vascular disease.

Take your GP up on the offer of a chat. It might be that the impact of the vasculitis is minimal...or that you can put measures in place to ensure it remains minimal. Hopefully a discussion with the GP will bring you some reassurance!

It is far better to know than not - it can be treated. Don't worry - dwell on the good side.

I am glad that your CT Scan and Chest X Ray are clear. Let us know what happens about the minor Vascular disease signs. I hope it’s nothing to worry about.

Will do, she did say minor and just asked me to give her a call if worried. Just wondering if this is a consequence of pmr - am slim, have never smoked and have healthy diet!

PMR IS a level of vasculitis - symptoms vary from PMR to cranial GCA via LVV (large vessel vasculitis). Most of us don't know what level we attain unless the cranial GCA symptoms are obvious - unless they do this sort of imaging and that is unusual still.

Good news from GP! Apparently signs of vascular disease are negligible- only picked up because Guys were testing everything super thoroughly. Inflammatory markers down from 130 and 83 to 8 and 1 so steroids are doing their job, I am no longer anemic and platelet count (which now they tell me was the marker they were really concerned about) now well within normal range. Also, timely reminder that I still have arthritis in both hips and lower back so not all stiffness is PMR related!
