I don’t know if anyone remembers, but we had a few posts about Dr Sarah Myhill a while back and her ideas. Well today I saw my chiropodist, who had just been on a five day course at Dr Myhill’s house. You would have thought the visit was part of the second coming, my chiropodist had been totally brainwashed. Vaccinations are bad, vitamins (lots of them) are good and you can buy them from Sarah. Doctors are corrupt and just interested in money, and the General Medical Council is the Devil’s Work. Dr Myhill is perfect, friendly, a true benefactor. It really was quite frightening how my chiropodist had been sold on Dr Myhill’s ideas.

Didn't occur to them she might be identifying her own traits?

It proves how you can often fool some of the people all of the time. Trump even could learn from her!

...and in this 200 mL bottle, which I can sell to you for the very reasonable sum of £500, I have the latest, scientifically tested and patented medicine to cure all ills, from in-growing toe-nails to alopecia, stage 3 cancer to a boil on the bum. I call it the 'special cures all maladies' formulation (or SCAM for short).

Piglet, it sounds like you should find a new chiropodist.

She is actually a good chiropodist and I have known her some time. She went on this course a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed at how she had been totally brainwashed by Dr Myhill. Dr Myhill was obviously very charismatic and had this farm that was all ‘so lovely’. She is obviously a brilliant brain washer. Perhaps I might read one of her many books!!

“Dr” Myhill is not alone in being charismatic and a brainwasher… but you would hope intelligent people would realise that… but unfortunately as we know, many don’t. In all walks of life.

Frightening isn’t it. I did not realise until yesterday how powerful people like that can be. Tommy Robinson seems to be another one.

Well we could name quite a few, but probably better not to!

Hilarious in some respects, but frightening in others. My hitherto sane best mate has got swept up in this sort of scam plus all kinds of conspiracy theories. She's simply not the same person, and is now deeply depressed. Also evangelical in her promotion of quackiness.

I have a very good friend who is totally anti vax. It caused quite a split between us over Covid.

She was banned from practicing for 9 months by a medical tribunal after claiming vitamins cure Covid. Amongst other things;

The tribunal found Dr Myhill "does not practice evidence-based medicine and may encourage false reassurance in her patients who may believe that they will not catch Covid-19 or other infections if they follow her advice".

She didn’t contest the decision.

I think she was first banned in 2010 and the latest time in 2023. Perhaps that is why she thinks the General Medical Council is the devil incarnate! She came into her own over Covid when she was totally against vaccines. She had brain washed my chiropodist over that too.

Time for a new chiropodist me thinks 😕

She is a good chiropodist. I have had her for ages. She lived locally, but then moved away, but comes here every couple of months to visit her mother and she does the feet of myself and a couple of friends while she is here. She comes to our houses and takes about an hour, so lots of time to chat!

Coming to your house is worth a lot!

That is true. It seems to work very well.

Just don’t listen to her. You are so fortunate that she comes to your house.

I suppose I was just amazed how my chiropodist had got brain washed. Perhaps Sarah Myhill should become a salesman!

I have been following Sarah Myhill for many years and have read her books and followed her work. I have various autoimmune type illness which don’t have any real root cause treatment similar to PMR. I prefer to take a more holistic approach whenever possible so I have been interested in her approach. The fact that she is holistic and you don’t share her views on vaccines and her more natural methods doesn’t mean that she is wrong or corrupt and that any people that tend to favor that approach are ill advised.

In the PMR community on FB there are people who favor a non prednisone approach and it seems to work for some. I would have loved to not have to take the prednisone but unfortunately, it works for me. And I could not deal with the pain. That being said, I also do holistic things like red light therapy and supplements. It is complementary medicine and I don’t think it should be disparaged. There is horrible corruption in the medical industry both traditional and alternative. The whole Covid debacle has shown light on the fact that vaccines need better vetting and more safety. That isn’t debatable but a fact. I didn’t read what was written about Sarah Myhill on this site because I am new. But, from what I read today, I think it is better to be more informed before you question and insult someone’s medical expertise when in fact it is just an opinion or POV.

That being said, I hesitated to write this because I like this group and I don’t want to offend anyone and find the information so helpful with this illness. As part of the ME/CFS/POTS community also, I have seen several doctors in the USA being brought to task based only on opinion. I think having suffered for years with illness that has little acceptance until just lately and now having layered on another illness that little is known about and doctors are also unsympathetic to, we should be careful about maligning those who make an effort to help an under-served community.

If her methods work for you then fine, but as you say we are all entitled our opinions and views.

Whatever works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for someone else … we have to make our own choice.

I think the thing that gets me about her is the attitude ‘I am right and everyone who disagrees with me is wrong’. Some things she says may be right about of course. Don’t worry about disagreeing with points made. A good debate makes everyone think a bit more deeply.

I don’t use her methods . I have read quite a bit about her and her main thrust is just to be very holistic. I have found other practitioners more helpful and tend to put my own together from them. But, I also don’t find anything she says to be harmful or problematic because I don’t choose to use the advice or protocols.

I believe the point you made to me is just exactly the point I was trying to make.

I do want you to know that I respect the knowledge you have about PMR and don’t want to offend you! I’m so new to this illness and need all the help I can get!

In fact Sarah Myhill is mainly interested in ME, but nutrition is very important for those with PMR too. The mantra is rest, rest, rest and eat healthily. Don’t go for the ‘burn’. Any little glitch, just stop and rest.

That’s good advice I have tried to follow for years but sadly fail too often. PMR has now made it so much more challenging !
