Have you had your calcium level checked. I was given the calichew automatically and ended up with pseudo gout, caused by too much calcium.

If not suggest you ask for a full spectrum blood test and ensure they understand you want all the minerals included.

You should also take Vitamin K2 (not K1) although if you are on a warfarin type bloodthinner you should ask medical advice first. It is important for making sure the calcium goes to the bones where you want it, not setting onto the walls of blood vessels or into organs where it will do harm.

I started last month with 3800 iu of d3 and k2 after last scan showed calcium deposits in the arteries and in the kidneys and prostrate , will see if it works at next scan. Research had suggested it does work and reversed some of the damage. Just take the k2 with a fatty meal as it is fat soluble , I have one egg each morning with it, my cholesterol has gone down since I have been doing this.

Doesn't sound like too much .

You can ask for a check of your vitamin , mineral levels with blood tests to help you decide wether you need more or less of your supplements.

You could have this done and use it as a baseline to work from.

Vitamin D and Calcium are standard to be prescribed , some people don't need as much Calcium which they find out with future checks like Jinasc , most need both.

Taking a full complement Vitamin and Mineral supplement can give you all round support , especially when you have a Chronic Health issue as many of our nutrients are used up to keep the body functioning as well as coping with processing drugs and dealing with our symptoms. These complete supplements will usually provide enough of the things like Zinc , B Vitamins , Copper , Iodine and Selenium for your needs and the foundation of your requirements of Vitamin C and Magnesium.

Omega 3 is good , but keep away from a multi Omega supplement as Omega 6 is Pro Inflammatory and can add all round itchy pain so Omega 6 except in food is better avoided with inflammatory conditions.

Vitamin K2 isn't usually included in a multi vitamin but is beneficial . It isn't the Vitamin K we think of involved in blood clotting but is involved in other metabolic body functions and can help heart , bone , hair and skin health . If you have blood thinners as Heron said or certain health issues ask for advice as you may not be able to take it.

If you get problems with neuropathy many people take a Magnesium supplement and use topical Magnesium sprays or lotions at night or after a bath or shower.

Additional Vitamin C is sometimes beneficial if you are run down or suffering from an infection or Fatigue.

One of your best supplements is Water. Even if you aren't thirsty the body with Chronic illness uses alot of fluids dealing with its normal work and your inflammation. Having 1.5/2 litres of fluids a day ( as long as you are not on a low fluid regime for other Health issues ) is key to improving your Health.

It's also important to have a good , nutrient rich Diet , as the best way to maintain your vitamin / mineral levels and improve your Health is through food intake not just supplements.

Supplements are best taken at the appropriate time of day , mid meal for the best absorption, as they are digested with the food rather than leaving the stomach on a flood of water to become an expensive form of wee!

Hope that helps
