I have been to my see Rheumatologist this morning. After numerous negative blood tests he has pronounced that I am free of PMR. He said I can stop taking Ibandronic acid yipee. I am on 2mg steroid at the moment which he is happy for me to carry on or stop if I wish as he says it such a low dose as not to matter, but I must keep on taking calcium and vit D. It has been a long journey,

I'm so pleased - I'd stick at the 2mg (but that's me). I have a few friends who were at 1mg - and when they stopped it came back...

Hi,

It certainly has. Hope Rheumy is correct, and I guess you’ll want to continue reducing (slowly), but nice to hear his comments re staying on a low dose if you wish.

I’m still on the Adcal as well. Think we in the UK need all the VitD we can get!

Keep well

I’m not sure the negative blood tests are full proof as you’re still on pred. But how enlightening, a rheum that’s not losing the plot over low doses. Well done!

Lovely to hear a good news story. Best not to just “stop” the steroids now though but to continue tapering slowly via half mg doses, still listening to your body. Lots of good luck wishes.

Congratulations kingharold11. Well done! I hope you feel as well as the blood tests say you should. Glad you can stop the horrid stuff.

Be careful with the last 2 mgs - they could be holding you aloft. If you come off them, do it in tiny amounts spread over time. Good luck!

Well done kingharold, that's really great news. You've sure been around a long time, as I can remember some of your earlier posts when I was diagnosed back in December 2014.

Hopefully it all goes well for you now.

Cheers

Paddy

Arise King Harold!

Congratulations on your great news. 7 years is a LONG time. Enjoy catching up with all the things you wanted to do and couldn’t. Maybe at a slightly slower pace than you did pre PMR? I imagine recovery brings a renewed respect for body and mind. Smell the flowers, taste the coffee and feedback. Now you have passed go, collect your £200 ⭐️💐⭐️👏

Thankyou everybody for all of your good wishes I am not going to do anything about the small dose of steroids I am on at the moment that is what I have been thinking for a while and that is what the rheumy suggested.

All the very best from here on kingharold - and what is 2mg - hardly worth worrying about - I think I'd do the same...

hi

just wanted to wish you well for your last tapering and wonder if you will follow D/L DSNS method from here on in. I followed it from 2mg on and am finally down to 0.05mg last few weeks to go hoping to take my last 1/2 tab on Good Friday. Has been a three years and three months journey for me starting on 60mg Jan 2015. Have learnt so much from this great site and wise words of others. Learnt how to develop patience to get to this stage. Take it nice and slow from here enjoy your taper.
