Hi

Has anyone ever thought that certain bowel issues could be causing nerve pain in and around the vulval area? The bowel isn't mentioned very often and never has when diagnosing my condition.

I know that it happens in reverse i.e. nerve pain/damage can cause bowel issues. Many pudendal nerve entrapment sufferers have constipation from the onset of other, more nerve related, symptoms,(burning, flashing pain etc) long before any possibly constipating medication has been taken.

Numbness and therefore not knowing a BM is imminent can also be an issue as can an inability to evacuate the bowel fully and (rarely) faecal incontinence. Many pelvic pain sufferers develop muscle spasms which can include the sphincter so this muscle is often stronger rather than weak.

I have PN, an entrapped nerve in rectal anal site---it has been agony for five years now. I have been everywhere and done everything. The bowel is now in constant flair up with pain and burning. Cannot sit, hard to walk or stand, feel like insides are full of rocks and falling out. Keep trying new nerve pain meds but don't tolerate well. In bed a lot and on constant ice pack 24/7. What makes it worse is having neurogenic bowel from spinal cord. and have to disimpact. I hear a lot about pelvic, but seldom the bowel. My life has been ruined!
