I had a hysterectomy and a couple of weeks later went back in with possible infection it says my small bowel has prolapsed into the pelvis already and I am very scared there is no solution everyone just tells me to shut up and recover from op faster because it's been three weeks.
Very scared : I had a hysterectomy and... - Pelvic Pain Suppo...
Very scared
Hi, what did your doctor say, did they give you antibiotics, that should clear infection. I have just had a bowel infection antibiotics have helped but it slow to heal I think. Go back to your doctor if you have pains, see what they say. I think that op does take six weeks or longer to recover. Take care.

Hi, I had a hysterectomy 6 Years ago at age 36 and I now have 3 bowel prolapses. Try not to worry, some bowel prolapses don't cause any problems and you can have a completely normal life. If it does cause problems it can be fixed. Depending on the situation it can helped with physio and other non evasive therapies. If you do need surgery there are a few options. It takes at least 6 weeks to recover from a hysterectomy. You probably won't feel "normal" for a few months. Take it easy and get plenty of rest. x
Three prolapses I'm beginning to think hysterectomy was a mistake.
Sorry can’t help, I am due to have a hysterectomy, bladder and rectocele repair. I am aware that there is guarantee of it being successful. Minding oneself , not lifting or carrying heavy stuff post op seems to be crucial, also keeping the system flowing. Avoiding constipation. I hope you get sorted, very disappointing to be struggling post op. Suggest you have a chat with your Doctor to see what can be done. Some good advice from others that have had similar challenges on here.
Hi, I had a partial hysterectomy 12 due to severe endometriosis that had wrapped around my bowels, ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc. years ago. The doctor said a full hysterectomy can cause even your bladder to prolapse. It's s nuisance but can be fixed. Antibiotics are sometimes needed after surgery. Meanwhile, eat plenty of fruit, fiber and vegetables, and drink plenty of fluid to keep your bowels regular. Also, 3 weeks is so very early so give it time. I promise you that you will feel ok again. I lost my ovaries as well. Not sure if you did but, if so, you may be dealing with surgically induced menopause. It's all such a shock to your body, and also, theres the psychological effect - I can hardly believe it now, but I didn't feel like a man or a woman. I felt like a neutered cat! Finally, I think it takes several months to get over a hysterectomy and up to a couple of years for the body to truely recover from major surgery. Try to look at your path to recovery as a challenge and a process taking good care of yourself. You say you're scared - it is scary, and I was scared. But now I'm better and stronger than ever. Be kind to yourself. If your not happy with doctors treatment, go back until you are. You're worth it, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Listen I have a prolapse repair a year ago and I felt it hadn't worked after a few weeks but I perserverd and 3 months later I was fine...however I went private and my surgeon told me he didn't want to take my uterus out as it supports the others and they may prolapse but I feel 3 weeks is too soon to write it off....make sure u keep your bowels open as that's puts a massive strain on everything...give it time...buy a keval 8 and after 8 weeks use it daily to strengthen your pelvic floor this may help alot take vit d and collegan these help too...also if u are on hrt that will replace your lack of estrogen ...Good luck x
I had a subtotal/partial hysterectomy 16 years ago, only the womb was taken out everything else left in tact. Went into surgical menopause quickly. I'm 64 now and I'm fine feels like the menopause is always there lol and when I lay down I try to remember my floor Pelvic exercises
However I feel there may be a slight prolapse coming on. Thank you ladies for all the info 🙏
Just saw your post about surgery and I hope things have improved for you. Surgery, even laparoscopic is still painful and takes a couple of months to recover from especially as we age. I had a laparoscopic appendectomy in 2016 and while I was told it would only be a 1 night hospital stay (if not same day!) I ended up staying 3 days, in serious pain, sent home only to end up in ER 4 days later due to fluid in lungs, vomiting and infection. After 5 more days in hospital, I returned home again and it was weeks before I was able to walk one block around my neighborhood and 2 months before I felt normal again. I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be if I had my uterus removed. I have uterine and bladder prolapse and my Uro-gynocolgist proposed laparoscopic complete hysterectomy and bladder repair and wants to use mesh to support the upper vaginal wall to avoid future prolapses of intestines (which is my biggest concern in addition to future issues with proposed mesh). I'm not ready to subject myself to the surgery at this point because I'm still traumatized by the appendectomy. For now I'm able to make-do with a ring pessary. I feel for you and I'm sending you healing thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery.🙏✌️🙏
Hi. I’m late in reading your story.
Just curious? What was the reason you had hysterectomy?
How are you now? I hope better. It does take time to heal after surgery.
