Hi everyone, I saw a consultant yesterday via Cancer pathway GP referral, I have had horrendous heavy painful periods for as long as I can remember, I saw a consultant 4 years ago who said I had large fibroids and fitted a mirena coil.
My periods never changed! It has taken over my life, so yesterday my consultant said, when in 2022 I had a scan, (I was an in patient for something else) they saw my coil had moved but didn't tell me or do anything about it, so my coil was removed, consultant said about an ablation does anyone know if this work?
Thanks in advance

I have had an ablation for heavy periods (the novasure method). It has helped a bit as I no longer pass the massive clots. Seen consultant again since and he’s suggested repeat of ablation (try balloon method). I too have a fibroid which the radiologist has suggested could be the cause of the blood loss being excessive so waiting to speak to consultant so see if ablation is right option. They’ve also found a solid lesion so I need an MRI too see what that is. So ablation could work for you if your uterine lining being too thick is the problem but maybe fibroid removal would be an option? In meantime ask for tranaxamic acid and mefanamic acid. These help with blood loss and pain.
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to reply, unfortunately I have tried both the Acids they did absolutely nothing, I am hopefully seeing GP again tomorrow I feel like I am going round in circles again, it has taken over my life! Thanks again
