Hi, not really sure what I’m wanting or expecting here, just want some advice or to hear from someone who’s been through a similar situation. This all started following a colposcopy and punch biopsy of my cervix due to abnormal cells in November 2022. Within a couple of days I was in a lot of pain and was diagnosed with a UTI and severe thrush which I treated. I was still in pain after this so had vaginal swabs and had some sort of bacteria vaginosis. Again, treated this twice and nothing was found on 3rd follow up swabs. I have tested negative for all STI’s, and my boyfriend also tested for everything to ensure we were both safe, negative. I’ve had further UTI tests which were negative.
I have discomfort around my pelvis and vulval area daily, with urinary symptoms. I did pee a lot before all this but not with pain. Now I have a near constant pressure on a good day, on a bad day this becomes painful and everything ‘down there’ feels raw. I’m comfortable ish when laid or sitting down, sometimes standing and walking is fine, other times I feel a lot of pressure around my pelvis and urethra when I walk. Sometimes I feel almost an itch or spasm feeling in my vagina itself as well though again there’s nothing visibly or biologically causing it. My periods and ovulation pain also got substantially worse so I started the mini pill and my first period on it was a lot better, lighter and whilst I had cramps they weren’t as bad as my past couple. I do still manage to have a good sex life, it doesn’t hurt during though sometimes increases things a day or two after, though normally not to an unbearable level. I’ve also had a vaginal ultrasound scan and numerous pelvic examinations which found no abnormalities. I’ve been told these issues wouldn’t be due to the procedure I had even though it’s been ever since and not before, so I’m doubtful of that. I’m awaiting a referral to a urogynaecologist though not sure how long this is gonna take, and I’ve booked myself privately to see a pelvic physiotherapist this weekend to see if they can help with the pain management. I’m just at a loss with no answers and no idea what’s happening, I’m frustrated and annoyed. I was signed off work for 6 weeks with it at one point, I’ve been back a couple of weeks now and although I’ve mentally improved from being back it is hard sometimes when I’m having a bad day like today. Even laid down I can feel pressure around my vagina and urethra. Does anyone else have any experience of anything similar happening?
