heavy periods

im 53 still having periods diagnosed with fibroids a couple of large ones and lots of little ones. Periods have got heavier but this month lots of pain I dont normally get period pains(ive been lucky). Does any medication help slow the flow ? I dont think GP would put me on pill now.

Hello! I'm 46, just been diagnosed with fibroids. I've been put on tranexamic acid which reduced (not stopped) heavy flow and menfanamic acid for pain. They both help while I wait for a referral. I've read lots here and have a ton of info to ask gyn when I see them. Hth

hi,thanks for this info. ive been to GP today and shes referred me to gynae. No medication given. Getting bloods done checking my ferritin. Up until this month ive not had much pain but now my stomach also feels so sore. Hopefully fingers crossed we will get our appointments soon.

I think if it bothers you you could ask for them or go to boots they have otc meds that can help.

Waiting list in my area are 30/40 weeks.

I've been on iron tablets already.

I hope you are seen quickly.

why would they not if it helps, l would ask. I am 53 too and have a few fibroids but small, the largest was 2cm.

i dont know Gp just said this shouldnt be happening. I have various types and sizes was hoping my periods would have stopped by now! Never had pains with them before and thats what is bothering me. Might also explain back pain. The joys !

l am still having periods but am peri menopausal. I have always had painful periods so quite normal for me. I was on the pill when l was younger.such fun being a woman 👩
