I found out, well felt happen a prolapse about 6 weeks ago. I went to the drs she said it was a bowel prolapse pushing into my vagina - could see it so didnt examine but referred. So far all I have is a virtual group about pelvic floor.
When I try to do them I get bad stinging like cystitis and am constantly feeling tired, a heavy/ stinging feeling and just rubbish .... is this normal?
How long does it normally take to see someone? And how do you know what's urgent or not? Thanks

I have womb, bowel and bladder prolapse, I was referred last January and was seen at last 3 weeks ago, I need surgery but was told waiting time could be anything, how long is a piece of string. It might be worthwhile having a private consultation first if you can spare the expense. Good luck
Hi. If you CAN manage to go privately, please, please check out your proposed surgeon. 6yrs ago I was sent via the NHS to a private hospital and was operated on by a gynaecologist that had retired some years earlier FROM the NHS but had been working at the private hospital since then. I was left with permanent nerve damage from surgery for a bladder and bowel prolapse and I was just dismissed with the remark that " Well we can't see these things" so I now have constant pain that was not there prior to surgery. I do agree though that it would be a good idea to see a consultant privately and that should get you into the system with the NHS just please, please check out the surgeon before you go ahead.
Gosh how awful for you. Yes you are right about checking consultant out. My gp referred me to one who worked for nhs so new he was ok. Yes clearly we must check these people out thoroughly. So sorry to hear about you. Miserable.
If u can afford go private to see a gastro doctor or urologist ask at the spire u will see a consultant quickly and get a second opinion and referred quicker ..I'm afraid its the only way these days as the nhs is so pushed..kegal exercisers are for your pelvic floor I use a kegal 8 Google them good luck x
When I got diagnosed (the doctor says it’s the back wall where bowels are), (I don’t have a uterus as I had a hysterectomy many years ago) I was told to look on a website and that was it. She did say though that “no doubt she would see me again”, I asked her if it was a small prolapse and she said it was quite significant. I do exercises for it and have a Kegel8 machine, as my options, she said, we’re surgery or a pessary ring.
It can take about three months to start to feel anything, after using strengthening exercises, but once you start, it’s important to keep going or the muscles will revert back to how they were. Having watched the videos with the physio that shows you how to use the Kegel8, she said it doesn’t make your prolapse go away, but it stops it from getting any worse. The videos are worth watching, even if you don’t have the machine, because the physio lady, shows you how to cough, or get up from a chair (as your bladder may get squashed as you get up causing leakage). The videos can be found on YouTube.
If your prolapse hasn’t gone outside your vagina, do the exercises, because it will strengthen your muscles. The muscles are a bit like a hammock, and if you strengthen them, by regular exercises, it should prevent anything from ‘coming out’.
I've found the ring pessary has helped. But as time has gone on its not working as well as it did. I maybe need a different size. But ultimately I think I'm going to need an op. Maybe your GP or practice nurse is trained in inserting ring pessaries ? That would help in the meantime I would think. All referrals and operations are taking a long time just now because of COVID.
I had a telephone consult with GP just as we went into lock down. However I was seen 2 days later by a lovely female Dr ( my GP as a male advised me that he's more a prostate man than lady parts) Lol. Any how it was diagnosed as a definite bowel prolapse but because I had some bleeding with it I was referred under 2 week rule and saw a gynaecologist within 3 days. Dreadful experience, I have only felt that kind of pain when I was in labour. I was not told that he was going to dilate my cervix and I was screaming it was so painful. he asked me if I wanted him to stop but of course I had to have biopsy so carried on. Anyway, guess I got lucky. The prolapse has remained the same and I have had no further bouts of bleeding.
