Ruptured ovarian cyst

Does anyone have experience of ruptured ovarian cyst?

This happened to me 2.5 weeks ago. Rushed to A&E with suspected appendicitis (A&E suggested I might be constipated 🤬) but after CT scan it was revealed that a cyst had ruptured on my ovary and was bleeding internally in my pelvis.

Don’t get me wrong, the pain isn’t as horrific as it was during the rupture, but 2.5 weeks later I still feel terrible. It’s like constant endometriosis-type pain with several surges of pain at side of rupture. Hospital DID say up to 1 month to feel 100% but I’m nowhere NEAR 100%.

Any experience or advice out there?

Thank you xxx

I had this happen in my teens, a long time ago ! I was rushed to A&E and almost immediately to theatre for an emergency laparotomy, I had the ovary removed, had peritonitis and it took a long time to recover. Sounds like my experience was a bit different to yours as I would have died if they hadn't operated straight away.

I hope you get better but go back to the Dr if not.

Thanks for your reply. Goodness you poor thing!!

I need to call GP to renew sicknote so I will mention the pain. I just thought it’d be improving by now. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the crippling pain it was initially but still very painful. X

Hi i went into hospital with bad pains they said it was wind and sent me home, that night i was in agony so got rushed back to hospital they thought it was appendicitus went for surgery when they opened me up my fallopian tube was twisted ,ovarian cyst burst and gangrene had set it so painful they had to remove the lot , it took quite a while to heal so just rest up a little longer but if you feel things arent right go back to the doctor, hope you feel better soon.

Hi There, I had the same pain with ruptured cyst. It can be very painful. It triggered Interstitial Cystitis as a result and had pelvic and bladder pain for quite a while. I have found that keeping up with pelvic floor yoga, heating pad and walking helps with the pain. I went on loestrin BC continuous after that to prevent further ruptures and to stop cycle. It made a huge difference. I hope you feel better soon!

Oh what is loestrin BC? They’ve given me the nexplanon implant so we’ll see.

It’s funny you say about bladder - I have noticed that when my bladder is full my pelvic pain worsens. Will mention to GP when I call.
