My granddaughter 21 recently had Pap test and started bleeding. Results from PAP unsuccessful. Dr wants to do laparoscopic surgery and do PAP while she’s asleep. She has had lot of pelvic pain. Her Mother thinks this is overkill since there’s no cure for Endo. I don’t agree and think it should be done. Your thoughts please. Rocky68

Endometriosis
I think she should do it because she is young and they may find something and there are a lot of good treatments for Endo now
At such a young age possible treatments for a potential diagnosis of endometriosis could be very effective depending on level of area affected. In cases like this doctors advice is paramount in giving your granddaughter the best chance of beating this condition at an early stage.

I have endometriosis and knew I had it before I had my lap. The endo got so bad that I needed a lap and I was terrified, the drs knew mine was in my rectum/ bowel as the old blood actually came out of my episiotomy scar. Before surgery I was told I would probably need a stoma and I’m a worrier and I was so upset. Luckily the staff I saw are endo specialists and put me at ease, they really looked after me and the surgery was a lot better than I thought it would be and I didn’t need a stoma! You are right there is no cure but there are treatments which can ease this horrible disease. What a lovely grand parent you are to ask and worry about this, I have little to no support from my family as they can’t see the illness so it isn’t there, best wishes to her and hope she gets answers soon 🤞 xx
