Sciatic endometriosis

Just diagnosed with sciatic endometriosis after 5 years of investigation. I have nerve damage which had caused foot drop. I am going to see a gynaecologist for how they can help, as have not had any treatment for it.

Has anyone been diagnosed with this and any advise or help on treatment etc.

I am told it’s very rare so not many consultants know how to treat. I have read surgery is the best option once it has got to the nerve rather than hormonal therapy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That is tissue growing around the nerve. They can remove the tissue and see if that helps. If not certain birth control helps and pain meds. The biggest thing is get that tissue off that nerve. They can block certain ones also. That would be a obgyn. My doctor treats all those nerves. I have endo and need a hysterectomy and tomorrow is my surgery and I will get my 3 out of 6 pudendal injections. Most endo will mess up a bunch of things while it grows everywhere. Only hormones control endo. They are cleaning up mine and I will need hormones also. I had endo surgery in 2017 and almost lost my appendix. Stage 4 endo. All around my bowels etc. I felt so much better after that. I should have started hormones then but the depo shots seem to work and stop my bleeding but not the endo.

Many thanks for your reply and advise. I am going to be referred to a specialist so will see what they say. I do not have children and although I am older I don’t really want to take hormones right now just in case there is a possibility I could have a child in the next few years ( but I am

over 40 so not sure of the chances or if I have endo in other places and if it has affected my fertility). I think the next step for me is a laparoscopy to see where else it is.

I wish you all the best for your surgery, and a quick recovery.

Try a colorectal dr they know the pelvic structure and a nuero surgeon as they know the spine. I think you need 2 different drs or try an obgyn oncologist they do more then cancer they know the structure better then olain obgyn drs and lastly try a chronic pain dr as they know how to numb the spine via injections

I would take the same approach as Pelvic18 suggests, you need multiple disciplines to be involved in this.
