Hi, I have had a prolapse for several years, I think it mainly affects my bladder and have a large soft bulge protruding from my vagina. I have been relatively lucky with symptoms not too bad - only needing the loo more often. I saw a consultant about two years ago who wanted to do a mesh repair which I didn’t want. I have tried two pessaries but they don’t stay in place. Then this year things have changed. In feb I suddenly felt very uncomfortable and had a constant urgent urge to go for a wee which was there all the time and was very painful. My GP said this was caused by my prolapse and has referred me back to the consultant. Which I am waiting to see. The strange thing was that after about 10 days the pain and urge to wee went and then the uncomfortable feeling went after another 3 weeks or so and I was feeling ok again so I was a happy bunny. Then 10 days ago it has come back with a vengeance- the pain and desperate urge to wee is awful and never lets up even after going to the loo. I had a test last time for a uti but that was negative. Has anyone else had this? Just looking for advice - I have had a telephone appointment for the consultant come through for mid June. Thanks.

Prolapse problems
Do think very carefully before submitting to surgery. A friend tried to talk me out of surgery and I ignored this advice. I have had constant pain since having the operation more than three years ago. I was told by the surgeon who operated that I had a trapped nerve. I was put on Gabapentin and DISCHARGED. My GP tried me on various pessaries etc ( and I found the applicator for these painful to use) and none of these helped. When I FINALLY was refered to a Gynological Physio Therapist (the only real help I have had) she told me that on examining me that it was the actual SKIN inside the vagina that was causing the pain. This made sense to me as after surgery I was 'packed' vaginaly ( I hasten to add that over the last 35 years or so I have been packed on several occasions with NO problem) and when the packing was removed I have NEVER felt pain like it and this caused quite a lot of extra blood loss. On relating this to a nurse who works in operating theatres I (and the nurse) came to the conclusion that there had been NO lubricant on the packing as there should have been and it had therefore stuck and skin has been ripped away on removal of the packing. If you do decide to have the surgery please check out the surgeon and definitely do NOT let them use any mesh ( mine was not meshed. I did check through my GP) as there has been lots of adverse publicity and many court cases over problems with mesh. Sorry if this is a horror story but we all need to be very sure when anything is done to our bodies. Also please try CBD the strongest you can afford) for the pain and stick with it as it takes about a month to 'kick in'.
